INTRODUCTION

Use this article to quickly find specifications related to servicing and on-vehicle adjustments. This is a quick-reference article to use when you are familiar with proper adjustment procedures and only need a specification.

FLUID CAPACITY (CRANKCASE) (1)

CAUTIONDO NOT use cooling system seal tabs, or similar compounds, unless otherwise instructed. The use of cooling system seal tabs, or similar compounds, may restrict coolant flow through the passages of the cooling system or the engine components. Restricted coolant flow may cause engine overheating and/or damage to the cooling system or the engine components/assembly.

(1) Inspect every 15,000 miles. (2) Check and replace as necessary. (3) Under normal service conditions, replace at 100,000 miles. If used under severe service conditions, replace every 50,000 miles. (4) Use only DEX-COOL(R) coolant or equivalent silicate-free coolant. (5) Replace at 60 months or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. (6) There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement. Only replace the fuel filter if the filter is restricted. Inspect the fuel tank internally and clean the fuel tank if you find a restricted fuel filter. Periodic replacement is not required. (7) Replace as indicated by oil life monitor or every 12 months, whichever occurs first. (8) Check every 30,000 miles or every 36 months, whichever occurs first. Use Supercharger Oil (GM P/N 12345982 or Canada P/N 10953513).

REPLACEMENT INTERVALS

BELT TENSION

Adjustment of serpentine belt is not necessary. Belt tension is maintained by spring-tensioned idler pulley (some equipped with belt wear indicator).

ENGINE COMPRESSION

Check engine compression with engine at normal operating temperature, all spark plugs removed and throttle wide open.

IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE

Note. Idle mixture is controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Idle speed is preset by manufacturer and is not adjustable.

THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR

Note. TP sensor is not adjustable. For further testing procedures, perform TP sensor related diagnostic test. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.

(1) Range is from idle to wide open throttle. (2) The scan tool range is 0-100 percent. TP angle is computed by the PCM from the TP sensor voltage. TP angle should display 0 percent at idle and 100 percent at wide open throttle. The scan tool voltage range is 0-5 volts. The voltage being monitored by the PCM on the TP sensor signal circuit.
