Engine Oil Pan Removal Buick LeSabre VI

2.0L (122") 4-CYLINDER VIN K

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right front wheel and front splash shield. Position jack stands at jack points.
2. Drain crankcase. Remove exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold or waste gate. Remove 4 flywheel cover bolts. Remove oil pan and bolts.

2.0L (122") 4-CYLINDER VIN 1

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect exhaust pipe shield and remove. Raise and support vehicle. Drain crankcase. Remove A/C brace at starter and at A/C bracket.
2. Remove starter bracket at block. Remove starter and lay aside. Remove flywheel cover and A/C brace. Remove 4 right support bolts. Lower support slightly to gain clearance for oil pan removal. Remove oil filler and extension on automatic transaxles. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan.

2.3L (141") 4-CYLINDER

Drain engine oil. Remove transaxle drive plate cover. Remove splash shield-to-suspension support bolt. Disconnect exhaust manifold brace. Remove radiator outlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt, transaxle-to-oil pan bolt and stud. Pry spacer from between oil pan and transaxle. Remove bolt connecting oil pan to transaxle. Remove oil pan and gasket.

2.5L (151") 4-CYLINDER

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Drain crankcase. Remove front engine mount nuts. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold and at converter. Remove starter and flywheel access cover.
2. Remove splash shield, power steering pump and bracket. Install Engine Support Fixture (J-28467), and raise engine. Remove power steering pump and bracket (if equipped). Remove engine strut. Remove lower alternator and engine support brackets. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan.

2.8L (173") V6

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove serpentine cover and belt. Remove belt tensioner. Install Engine Support Fixture (J-28467-A), and raise engine. Raise and support vehicle and drain crankcase. Remove right tire, wheel and splash shield. Remove steering gear pinch bolt. Remove transmission mount retaining nuts. Remove engine to cradle mount retaining nuts and front engine horse collar bracket from block. Remove flywheel/starter shields. Remove starter and suspend from body. Support engine cradle from center crossmember. Loosen rear cradle bolts, but DO NOT remove. Remove front cradle bolts and lower front of cradle. Remove oil pan bolts, then nuts. Remove oil pan.

Century Models

Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Drain crankcase and remove flywheel access cover. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan.

Electra, LeSabre, Regal, & Skylark

Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Drain crankcase. Remove flywheel access cover and crossover pipe. Disconnect engine mounts. Raise and support engine. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan.

Riviera

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove upper final drive bolt and support engine. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect idler arm at frame.
2. Lock steering against left-turn stop. Remove final drive unit, splash shield, starter and flywheel access cover. Drain crankcase, remove oil pan bolts and oil pan.

5.0L (307") V8

1. Disconnect negative battery cable and oil dipstick. Remove fan shroud screws. Raise and support vehicle. Drain crankcase and remove flywheel access cover. Disconnect exhaust and crossover pipes.
2. Remove starter and disconnect engine mounts at cylinder block. Install Engine Support Fixture (BT-6501) with Adapters (BT-7109 & BT-7203). Raise engine and remove pan bolts and oil pan.
