Circuit/System Description
Ignition voltage is supplied to the sunroof control module by the BCM. B+ is applied to the sunroof control module via the S/ROOF fuse. The sunroof control module supplies each of the switch signal circuits with a 12-volt reference. When a switch is pressed the signal circuit is pulled low signaling the sunroof open or close request. The sunroof control module determines the motor direction based on inputs received from the sunroof switch. When the module reverses the polarity of the applied voltage, the motor reverses direction.
Diagnostic Aids
A short to B+ on any of the sunroof switch signal circuits will open the ground circuit in the sunroof switch.

Drain Hose Routing
Note. If the headliner is wet DO NOT remove any interior trim. Do the Plugged Drain Hose test first.
A drain trough encircles the sunroof window panel and water is drained off by the drain hoses located at each corner of the housing. A drain channel spans across the sunroof module at the rear of the window panel and directs water into the trough.
- The front drain hoses are routed down the windshield pillars and out the center of the pillar between the door hinges. The front hoses are installed in a rubber grommet and retained by clips.
- The rear drain hoses are routed through the rear pillars and out of the rocker panel. In some vehicle the drain hoses are routed out through the metal roof slots and routed to the lower wheelhouse to drain out of the vehicle. The rear hoses are installed in a rubber grommet and retained by clips.
Plugged Drain Hose
If a waterleak has occurred check for a plugged drain hose at each corner of drainage system.
- Open the sunroof window.
- To test for blockage, pour a small container of water into the module housing drain trough. Check each corner to confirm the drain hose is draining water.
- Use compressed air, 241 kPa (35 psi) or less to blow out any drain hose that is plugged.
- Test the system again.
- If the hose remains plugged, check to see it is properly routed and does not have a kink. Refer to «Sunroof Housing Front Drain Hose Replacement»(/buick/enclave/i-2007-2013/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-system) , or «Sunroof Housing Rear Drain Hose Replacement»(/buick/enclave/i-2007-2013/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-system) .
- Remove the blockage using the following steps. Push mechanics wire through the hose to remove the obstruction. Use compressed air in order to blow out any remaining material.
Disconnected Drain Hose
Inspect the drainage system for disconnected drain hoses. Complete the following steps in order to obtain partial access to drain hoses and check for a disconnected hose.
- Open the sunroof window panel.
- Lower the headliner as needed. Refer to «Headlining Trim Panel Replacement»(/buick/enclave/i-2007-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#floor-coverings-and-headlinings) .
- Connect any disconnected hoses.
- Ensure that the rear drain hoses are properly routed in the metal roof slot and taped in place.

Sunroof Window Replacement
The Power Sunroof System consists of the following components
- Sunroof control module
- Sunroof switch
- Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof glass rides
- S/ROOF/SUNSHADE Fuse 30 A
- Body control module (BCM)
Power and Grounds
Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the sunroof control module from the 30 A S/ROOF/SUNSHADE Fuse located in the underhood fuse block. Ground is supplied to the sunroof control module through the body ground circuit G402.
Ground is supplied to the sunroof switch through the body ground circuit G402.
Power Sunroof Operation
The Power Sunroof System will operate only with the ignition turned to the RUN or Accessory positions, this allows for retained accessory power (RAP) control of the sunroof through the body control module (BCM). With the ignition in the run or accessory positions, the BCM supplies the sunroof with ignition voltage which allows sunroof operation. Once the ignition switch is turned to OFF the sunroof will continue to operate until any door is opened or when the RAP timer reaches its shut-off limit. For a description and operation of the RAP operation, refer to Retained Accessory Power Description and Operation .
The rear sunroof is a fixed glass and does not open. The front and rear sunshades will have to be manually opened or closed.
Sunroof Switch
The sunroof switch assembly is located on the headliner above the rearview mirror and is used to command the sunroof to open and close.
Sunroof Motor
The sunroof control module assembly has a bi-directional motor. The motor ground is removed when the sunroof reaches the soft stop end of travel position. This is based on the learned position that was performed during the initialization process. The internal hall effect sensors within the sunroof control module assembly creates pulses that are counted by the modules until the end of travel position is reached.
