EGR Function Testing - Diesel Bmw: Other BMW X5 M E70 рестайлинг

1985-86 (Diesel Engine)

  1. On diesel engines, EGR valve is open at idle, closed when throttle is depressed and open again when engine speed reaches 1000-2800 RPM. With engine off, disconnect vacuum hose at EGR valve. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to EGR valve and apply 12 in. Hg.
  2. Observe gauge for loss of vacuum. Release vacuum from EGR valve and listen for click of valve hitting seat. If click noise can be heard, EGR valve is functioning correctly.
  3. To check available vacuum to EGR valve, install "T" fitting at EGR valve and connect vacuum gauge. With engine running at idle, and engine temperature greater than 172°F (78°C), vacuum should be present.
