Necessary preliminary tasks

Release screws (1). Remove the radio-operated key insert (2) from the steering column switch intake (3).

IMPORTANTCarefully unlock and disconnect associated plug connection for ribbon cable. Replace the ribbon cable if damaged.

Necessary preliminary tasks

Unclip electrical leads (1) from mounting for control units (2).

Pull control unit (3) slightly out of mounting for control units (2).

Unlock plug connections (4) and disconnect.

Remove control unit (3).

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Unlock catches (2) in direction of arrow and pull ultrasonic transducer (3) out of bracket (4).

Note. A holder which is not included in the scope of delivery is required to support the wheel laser. Use either the quick-action clamp from the existing KDS or ACC wheel holder ( 36 1 100 ).

Note. Follow instructions for ACC adjusting device. To adjust the ACC sensor, connect the BMW diagnosis system and fit the ACC adjusting device. Select ACC system in diagnosis. Start test module "ACC adjustment" (service functions) and proceed in accordance with instructions. Handle ACC adjusting device in accordance with mounting and operating instructions provided with device.

66 31 006 Removing and installing (replacing) ACC sensor

Special tools required

  1. 00 9 317

Unclip trim (1) at points (2) and remove in direction of arrow from bumper trim (3).

IMPORTANTTo avoid damaging bumper trim when feeding ACC sensor out, cover area around bumper cutout with suitable adhesive tape.

Installation

Make sure trim (1) is correctly seated.

Locking hooks (2) and retaining element (3) must not be damaged.

IMPORTANTSecure ACC sensor (2) against falling out. Tape off bumper in working area with adhesive tape (1).

Using special tool 00 9 317 , unclip ACC sensor (2) from holders on both sides.

Disconnect plug connection (2) and remove sensor (1).

After installation

Carry out ACC sensor adjustment using BMW diagnostic system.

Replacement

Carry out rough adjustment of ACC sensor (1).

If necessary, perform rough adjustment at retaining pins (2).

The following operations should only be carried out when using the tool kit for calibrating the reversing camera for the first time.

See Service Information 205 07 349 for ordering conversion kit.

Note. The operation is described for the left-hand side; proceed in the same way for the right-hand side.

Remove support plate (1) from spindle (2).

Replace spindle (2) by spindle (3).

Press support plate (1) on to spindle (3).

Remove ball pin (2) from rod (3).

Note. Mechanical adjustment - as described in the following - is only possible axially .

Vertical adjustment can only be carried out with the BMW diagnosis system

Note. Front of car must be parallel at distance (A) to headlight aiming device (1). A = 1.5 m

Align a suitable straight object (2), e.g. a spirit level, horizontally on headlight aiming device.

Slowly carry out axial adjustment of night vision camera at adjusting screw (3).

Note. Illustration shows the in-car monitor view.

If necessary, align the picture of the night vision camera with aid of a second person.

Top edge (A) must be aligned parallel to top edge of screen (B).

Press tab (2) to side and remove control unit (3) from module carrier.

Release screws (3) and remove holder (4) with camera.

Tightening torque 15 N.m.

Insert camera (1) in holder (2).

Left guide pin (3) must be correctly seated in holder (2).

Apply screw securing adhesive to screw (4) and tighten screw.
