Cabin Air Filter - e36 BMW M3 E36

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Note. Manufacturer's terminology for this filter is microfilter.

1. Pull off rubber part and pry out grille. (Scheme 1)
2. Remove screws from cable channel. (Scheme 2)
3. Remove screws on right-hand side and take off holder. (Scheme 3)
4. Remove screw on left side and pull out air collector in upwards direction.
5. Unclip microfilters at left and right sides and lift them out. (Scheme 4)
6. To install heater microfilter, reverse removal procedure.

1. Remove the glove box. See «GLOVE BOX»(/bmw/m3/e36-1992-1999/remont/cabin-air-filter/#cabin-air-filter-e36__glove-box).
2. Remove the lower trim panel.
3. Unclip air duct for the foot well and lift it out. (Scheme 5)
4. Remove screws and tilt the control module holder in downwards direction. (Scheme 6)
5. Turn lock about 45° and remove cover. (Scheme 7)
6. Pull out air conditioning microfilter. (Scheme 8)
7. To install air conditioning microfilter, reverse removal procedure.

GLOVE BOX

Note. On convertible, the fan frills are not removed.

1. Disengage left and right air nozzles at top. (Scheme 9)
2. Position air nozzles straight and remove. (Scheme 10)
3. Unscrew glove box bolts. Disengage flashlight socket and push through towards rear. (Scheme 11)
4. Remove screws at bottom and pull glove box out. (Scheme 12)
5. Disconnect plugs. (Scheme 13)
6. For glove boxes on vehicles with central locking system, loosen screws and remove actuator motor for central locking. see scheme 14

Installation

Note. Numbers in parenthesis refer to numbers in figures.

To install glove box, reverse removal procedure. Introduce linkage (2) of central locking drive (1) into guide (3) and lock mechanism (4). see scheme 15
