REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTIONDisconnecting vehicle battery will cancel fault codes of control units. On vehicles with radio codes, after disconnecting battery, radio codes must be re-entered. Obtain radio code card from customer. Note stored stations and restore then after connecting battery. Also, where applicable, initialize sunroof and set steering angle.
  1. Read out fault memory of DME control unit. Switch off ignition. Remove radiator cover. See «RADIATOR COVER»(ref-163725-S14595630342004071200000).
  2. Remove front engine underguard. Unclip coolant hose at bottom from fan cowl. Unclip vent line at top from fan cowl.
  3. Unlock plug (1) on Automatic Recirculated Air Control (AUC) sensor and disconnect. (Scheme 3) Unlock plug (2) and remove.
  4. Fold in left retaining tab to fan cowl (1). (Scheme 4)
  5. Raise fan cowl (1) about 3 cm. Fold in retaining tab (2). Remove fan cowl (1) towards top. (Scheme 5)
  6. To install, reverse removal procedure. Insert retaining tab (1) at bottom on module carrier. (Scheme 6) Install original AUC sensor to new fan cowl if replacing it.
  7. Clear fault memory.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Turning lock of tensioning roller must engage in generator groove. (Scheme 9)
  2. Tighten wire from battery positive lead to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-163725-S29230101032004071200000).
  3. Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit. Clear fault memory.
