Removal
- Before removing, identify brakes lines for reassembly reference.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left and right front, left and right rear brake lines. Remove brake lines from master cylinder.
- Remove bolts for hydraulic unit. Remove multiple pin plug and disconnect ground wire. Pull up front of hydraulic unit and disconnect rear. Remove hydraulic unit from vehicle.
Installation
To install hydraulic unit, reverse removal procedure. Bleed brakes. See appropriate DISC article. Check ABS function with test unit. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING .
- With ignition off, remove multiple pin cover from control unit. Push back retaining clamp, and pull out multiple pin plug to the right and then disconnect to the left.
- Detach control unit on body. When replacing control unit, check for correct connection and control unit number.
Connect left side of plug and then press right side into clamp. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Check ABS function. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING .
- Remove and insulate battery cable terminals. Disconnect ground lead on body. Remove wire clamps on body and wire clip on heater wall. Disconnect both front pulse sensor plugs.
- Remove hydraulic unit. Remove multiple pin plug from hydraulic unit and disconnect ground wire. Remove rear seat and left "B" pillar trim. Detach left entrance for rail covers. Raise vehicle.
- Pull down and disconnect plugs for both pulse sensors. DO NOT damage rubber grommets. Route wire inward. Remove carpet and trim on left side as necessary. Pull wire forward in vehicle. Remove left trim lower section.
- Disconnect harness plugs. Pull wires forward into engine compartment. Remove cap from ABS control unit and plug. Remove firewall trim. Fold open hydraulic unit plug. Pull wire harness through firewall from engine compartment.
When connecting multiple pin plug, connect left side and then press right side into clamp. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Check ABS system for proper operation.
