FUNCTIONS CHANGED AFTER VEHICLE PROGRAMMING E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66, E87, E90, E91
After a vehicle has been programmed, the customer may notice changes in certain functions. Some vehicle functions may no longer tally with the descriptions given in the Owner's Handbook.
This BMW Service Technology bulletin is intended to inform Service Advisors and workshop staff about these changes.
SERIES SELECTION

FUNCTIONS CHANGED AFTER VEHICLE PROGRAMMING E60, E61, E63, E64
After a vehicle has been programmed, the customer may notice changes in certain functions. Changes in function depend on the current vehicle data status and the new data status.
Procedure
- Connect the vehicle to the BMW diagnosis system
- Read off the present vehicle data status as follows: Call up the program "CIP". Select "Vehicle order" and confirm. The current vehicle data status is displayed. Make a note of this data status.
- Locate the vehicle data status in the left-hand column of the table.
- Click on the hotspot on this line in the right-hand column.
- Print off the enclosure and attach to the job order.
If the target data status in the table does not correspond to the current CIP version in the workshop, you should still proceed as described above.

Air Volume Setting With Automatic Air-Conditioning System Automatic Program
With immediate effect, the automatic air-conditioning system automatic program also assumes the task of controlling the air volume, not only the air distribution. The cooling function is automatically activated in the automatic program.
Automatic Air-Conditioning System Automatic Program Intensity Levels Renamed With Enhanced Scope
Automatic air-conditioning system automatic program intensity levels have been renamed "high", "medium" and "low".
Elimination Of "AUTO" Selection In The Automatic Air-Conditioning System Control Display With Enhanced Scope
The "AUTO" selection in the "Air distribution" menu in the control display is eliminated. The automatic program is thus no longer available separately for driver and front passenger. The "AUTO" button on the centre console controls the automatic program for both driver and front passenger together.
New display of "Air distribution" menu. The "AUTO" option in the lower part of the control display is eliminated. Other function changes
- The "Automatic program" submenu on the control display has been relocated. The submenu is accessed as follows: Press the "MENU" button. Move the controller to the left to call up "Air conditioner". Select "Automatic" program.
Head-Up Display
Elimination of display when cruise control is deactivated. To date, the desired speed has been displayed in the head-up display, even when cruise control is deactivated (orange symbol). This display no longer appears when the system is deactivated.
Status Information Faded Out When Control Display Switched Off
Modified displays Status information on the control display is now faded out when the control display is switched off. The status information displays have been modified.
BMW Contact
Revised menu guidance. Establish contact to BMW Service or BMW Hotline through the option "BMW contact". The submenu is accessed as follows
- Press the "MENU" button.
- Move the controller to the front to call up "Communication".
- Select "BMW contact" and press the controller. The menu item "BMW contact" is called up.
- Select "BMW contact numbers" and press the controller.
New menu in map view. New "perspective" map view. The map view now has a menu with 7 panels on the left-hand side.
The new "perspective" map view can also be selected as follows
- Select "Navigation" and press the controller.
- Move the controller to the rear twice to move the marking to the fourth panel from the top. Turn the controller until the required map view is selected.
BMW Radio "Professional"
Playback of compressed audio files: If the vehicle is equipped with a separate drive, CDs with MP3 files (compressed audio files) can be played by the CD player.

Elimination Of The Green "No Message" Check-Control Status Display

Modified Map Display
The map display has been modified. The background display is now of higher quality. The symbols in the display are now faded in and out more "softly".
Modified Destination Input
The destination can now be input by entering the post code.
- Select "Place" or "Place/post code" and press the controller.
- Enter post code: (must be supported by the map DVD). Select digits one by one and confirm each by pressing the controller.
- Select the post code and press the controller. The place (destination) required is displayed.
- Select the place names in the display by turning the controller and press the controller.
Diversion From Route Section
A section of the route can bypassed at speeds of up to 50 km.
The menu item "Information" has been extended by the selection "Journey information".
"Journey information" contains destinations for selection, e.g. hotels and restaurants, parks and leisure areas, attractions and public buildings. These can be called up and included in the route guidance as required.
- Select "Destination input" and press the controller.
- Select "New destination" and press the controller.
- Select "Information" and press the controller.
- Select "Journey information" and press the controller.
- Depending on the navigation DVD (e.g. hotels and restaurants), various categories are now offered. Select the required category and press the controller.
- The selection can be restricted by entering additional criteria, e.g. maximum distance from programmed destination or name of destination. Moreover, optional inputs can also be made, e.g. display of BMW partner hotels. The destinations in the vicinity are displayed on the Control Display, sorted according to distance from destination and the other criteria entered.
- Select the destination and press the controller.
Extended Traffic Information
The following TMC traffic information has been added
- Traffic Check
- Winter (Ice)
- Heavy Rain
Extended Criterion For Route Selection
The criterion for selecting a route has been extended by the "Dynamic route".
Automatic change to the calculated route whenever there are hindrances on the route.
