Checking For Leaks
- Connect pressure gauge VAG 1310 to brake caliper (left front wheel) and brake caliper (left rear wheel) and bleed both gauges.
- Depress brake pedal until gauge on front axle indicates 1450 psi (100 bar). Pressure of 100 bar should be kept constant for 5 seconds. During this time, pressure on rear gauge may change by maximum 145 psi (10 bar). If not, replace brake pressure regulator.

- Remove wheels.
- Mark reusable brake pads when removing. Reinstall in same position, otherwise braking effect will be uneven.
- Unhook brake lining retaining spring by pressing spring in direction. (Scheme 20)
- Push back piston in brake caliper housing by pressing brake caliper housing against brake disc as shown. (Scheme 21)
- Press brake caliper housing in direction of arrow shown in illustration as far as possible. (Scheme 22)
- Remove brake pad near piston.
- Remove brake disc wheel hub locating bolt. (Scheme 23)
- Tilt brake disc outward and remove from brake caliper.
- Remove brake pad wear indicator wire.
- Unclip connection from mounting. (Scheme 24)
- Remove outer brake pad from brake caliper housing.
- Disconnect brake pad wear indicator wire from brake pad. (Scheme 25)
