CONTACT CORROSION

Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.

For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating are used.

In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive consist of non-conductive materials.

If there are doubts as to whether parts are suitable or not, use new parts.

Note

  1. We only recommend original replacement parts, they have been tested and are compatible with aluminum.
  2. We recommend using Audi accessories.
  3. Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by warranty.

WASHER FLUID LINES

The following descriptions can be found in General Information

  1. Washer fluid line hose connections, disconnecting and connecting
  2. Corrugated hose washer fluid line, repairing

WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BRINGING INTO SERVICE POSITION

Note. If windshield wiper motor should run during procedure, hood must be completely closed. Otherwise, voltage supply to wiper motor is interrupted.

If there is a chance of freezing, ensure wiper blades are not frozen.

HEADLAMP SPRAY NOZZLES, ADJUSTING

Note. The nozzles are already adjusted by the manufacturer and must not be adjusted after installation.

WINDSHIELD SPRAY NOZZLES, ADJUSTING

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  1. Windshield Washer Aiming Tool T10127 equipped with Replacement Tip 3125/5A

Adjusting

Scheme 18

Scheme 18

Note. The settings indicate the values for a moving vehicle, i.e. the spray from the jets is slightly offset when the vehicle is stationary.

Mark the six points on windshield using a water soluble marker

Dimensions in mmDriver SidePassenger Side
A=300300
B=600600
C=320320
D=335335
E=495495
F=175175

Aim the individual jets at the points using the T10127.

If the spray field does not correspond to the specifications, clean dirty spray jet.

Cleaning the nozzle

Remove nozzle. Refer to WINDSHIELD SPRAY NOZZLES .

Flush nozzle opposite to spray direction using clear water.

To remove remaining impurities, the nozzle must only be blown out opposite to spray direction using compressed air.

If the spray field still does not correspond to the specifications, replace the spray jet.

WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS, ADJUSTING

Procedure

Note. If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during the work procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

Remove wiper arms. Refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS .

Switch on ignition.

Activate "one-touch wiping" and let wiper motor run to end position.

Note. Every second time the wiper motor is switched off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the other way. To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be used to adjust the wiper crank. Only use end position where wiper arms run directly end position with no understroke. Activate "one-touch wiping" again if necessary.

Turn off the ignition.

Position wiper arm with wiper blade installed at wiper axles and align wiper blade at windshield as follows

Scheme 19

Scheme 19: WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS, ADJUSTING
  1. Dimension -a- = 5 + 10 mm.
  2. Dimension -b- = 24 + 10 mm.

Note. The dimensions indicate the gap between the wiper blade tips to black cowl grille at lower edge of windshield.

Tighten wiper arm nuts -arrows-.

Switch on ignition.

Operate "one-touch wiping" and let wiper arms run to end position.

Turn off the ignition.

Check adjustment of wiper arms again, correct if necessary.

Press the caps onto the wiper arms.
