AUXILIARY HEADLAMPS, ADJUSTING

Retrofitted auxiliary headlamps must be checked and adjusted according to the guidelines used for other systems.

CONTACT CORROSION

Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.

For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating are used.

In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive consist of non-conductive materials.

If there are doubts as to whether parts are suitable or not, use new parts.

Note

  1. We only recommend original replacement parts, they have been tested and are compatible with aluminum.
  2. We recommend using Audi accessories.
  3. Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by warranty.

HID HEADLAMPS, USAGE AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Refer to General Information .

LOCK CYLINDER AND IGNITION SWITCH WITH STEERING LOCK

General Information

  1. The immobilizer induction coil is attached to the lock cylinder and cannot be replaced separately.
  2. If the induction coil is deflective, the lock cylinder must be replaced.
  3. When replacing lock cylinder, observe guidelines regarding immobilizer induction coil. Refer to «General Information»(/audi/tt/8j-2006-2010/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#interior-lights-switches-general-information-coupe) .

STEERING COLUMN SWITCH MODULE

General Information

  1. The steering column switch module consists of coil connector with slip ring, Steering Angle Sensor -G85-, steering column switch (turn signal indicator switch, wiper switch, cruise control switch), Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module -J527- and ignition switch.
  2. Fault finding is done in "Guided Fault Finding" using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

HEADLAMPS CHECKING AND ADJUSTING CONDITIONS

  1. Tire pressure OK
  2. Headlamp lenses must be clean and dry.
  3. Headlamps lenses must not be damaged.
  4. Headlamp reflectors and bulbs OK.
  5. Vehicle load must be created.

Vehicle load on driver's seat in otherwise unloaded vehicle (curb weight).

  1. One person or 75 kg.

The curb weight is the weight of the operational vehicle with completely full fuel tank, including the weight of all equipment carried in operation.

  1. Fuel tank: at least 90% full.
  2. Equipment: such as spare wheel, tools, vehicle jack, fire extinguisher, etc.

If the fuel tank is not at least 90% full, the load must be created as follows.

Check fuel tank fill lever in instrument cluster tank gauge and compare with the following table. Place additional weight in the luggage compartment, if necessary.

Additional Weight in kg (lbs)
Tank GaugeFront wheel drive/all wheel drive
1/440 (88)
1/225 (55)
3/410 (22)
Full0

Example: If the fuel tank is half full, an additional 25 kg (55 pounds) must be placed in the luggage compartment.

Note. Use fuel containers filled with water as additional weight (a 5 liter fuel container filled with water weighs 5 kg) (5 gallons of water weighs approximately 41.75 pounds).

  1. Roll the vehicle several yards or move it back and forth several times to seat the springs.
  2. Vehicle and headlamp adjusting unit must be on a level surface.
  3. Parking brake must not be engaged so vehicle is not under stress.

Headlamp adjusting unit must be aligned to vehicle. Refer to Headlamp adjusting unit operating instructions.

Scheme 15

Scheme 15
  1. The headlamp adjuster must be distance -a- 30 to 70 cm (12 to 27.5 inches) in front of the headlamp and should not deviate more than dimension -b- = 3 cm (1.2 inch) from the headlamp center point.

Set the angle dimension on the headlamp adjusting unit. Refer to Headlamp adjusting unit operating instructions.

Scheme 16

Scheme 16
  1. The angle dimension -arrow- is stamped on the upper edge of the headlamp -1- in "%".

Note. The headlamp must be adjusted according to the angle dimension stamped on the headlamp. The percentage indicator is based on a 10 meter (32.8 feet) projection distance. For example, an angle dimension of 1.0% corresponds to 10 cm.
