MMI Systems - Europe, general information

In Audi A6, data for the Radio, telephone, navigation, voice recognition system, TV, audio players, sound system and Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface J533 is transmitted via the fiber optic MOST Bus.

The connection to the other BUS systems in the vehicle are performed by the Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface J533.

The "central control module" is the Front Information Display Control Head Control Module J523. The signals required to display information on the instrument cluster display are transmitted via the MOST-Bus to Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface J533 and from there via CAN-Bus (instrument cluster) to the instrument cluster.

Fiber Optic MOST Bus, general information

In addition to the CAN bus systems, the optical data bus system "MOST bus" is used.

A fiber optic cable is used as the "connecting cable". Fiber optic cables are routed inside corrugated tubes for protection.

Replace complete fiber optic cable if possible.

Ensure that harness connector end faces are not dirty.

Scheme 2

Scheme 2

If harness connectors are disconnected: Attach protective cap for cable connector VAS 6223/9.

Observe the minimum bending radius of 25 mm when routing fiber optic cables. Fiber optic cables must not be pinched or bent.

General information

In Audi A6, the data for the infotainment, telephone, navigation, voice control system, audio players, sound system and Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface J533 is transmitted via the fiber optic MOST Bus.

The connection to the other BUS systems in the vehicle are performed by the Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface J533.

The "central control module" is the Front Information Display Control Head Control Module J523. The transfer of signals representing the instrument cluster display occurs via the MOST-Bus to Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface J533 and from there via CAN-Bus (instrument cluster) to the instrument cluster.

Diagnosis is performed using "Guided Fault-Finding".

Fiber Optic MOST Bus, general information

In addition to the CAN bus systems, the optical data bus system "MOST bus" is used.

A fiber optic cable is utilized as the "connecting cable". Fiber optic cables are routed inside corrugated tubes for protection.

Replace complete fiber optic cable if possible.

Ensure that harness connector end faces are not soiled.

If harness connectors are disconnected: Attach protective cap for cable connector VAS 6223/9.

Observe the minimum bending radius of 25 mm when routing fiber optic cables. Fiber optic cables must not be pinched or bent.

Repairing fiber optic cables --> 97 - WIRES .

General information

The following information refers to two different types of telephone systems available in Europe

European models use either of the following telephone system versions

  1. Telephone fixed installation

Telephone Transceiver R36 is incorporated into the MMI Infotainment system via the MOST-Bus.

The Telephone Baseplate R126 for SIM card and for wireless Telephone Handset R37 (Bluetooth technology) is located in the center console/center armrest. Operation is performed via Multimedia Control Head E380 or via Telephone Handset R37.

Microphones for the Microphone Unit (in front roof module) R164 are integrated in the Front Interior Light W1. Of these, one microphone is connected to Telephone Transceiver R36.

  1. Cellular telephone preparation

Telephone Transceiver R36 is incorporated into the MMI Infotainment system via the MOST-Bus. In addition, a Bluetooth Antenna R152 is available.

The Telephone Baseplate R126 is installed in the center console or center armrest. Operation is performed via Multimedia Control Head E380 or via Cellular Telephone R54.

Microphones for the Microphone Unit (in front roof module) R164 are integrated in the Front Interior Light W1. Of these, one microphone is connected to Telephone Transceiver R36.

  1. Bluetooth car telephone

The Bluetooth car telephone is also equipped with operation for the Bluetooth cellular phone. The Bluetooth cellular telephone must not be incorporated into a base plate and not into the vehicle hands-free equipment.

Incorporation occurs exclusively via the Bluetooth connection. In this way, the SIM card of the cellular telephone (phone book) can also be read out.

The Bluetooth car telephone possesses its own handset (Bluetooth handset) with SIM card insert slot and charge cradle.

The Bluetooth car telephone and cellular phone can be operated via the Bluetooth handset, the hands-free equipment in the multi-function steering wheel and via the speech dialogue system.

Telephone Transceiver R36 is incorporated into the MMI Infotainment system via the MOST-Bus.

  1. Check which hole circle the rims have.
  2. Equip wheel pick-ups appropriately.
  3. To do so, secure three wheel bolt adapters in the hole circle to each wheel pick-up.
  4. Attach paddles to both wheel pick-ups and secure them with clamping screw.
  1. Set the wheel pick-ups on to wheel mounting bolts at the rear wheels.

Scheme 144

Scheme 144

When doing this, the wheel pick-ups are positioned by the "O-rings" in the adapters and held in place.

Note. Attach wheel pick-ups onto wheels so that any installed "anti-theft" wheel mounting bolts are not connected to the wheel pick-ups. Adjust paddle with aid of lock screws so that they move freely just above the floor.

Ensure paddles move easily.

  1. Position calibration platform behind vehicle at a distance of 1.47 m -1.90 m from rear wheels, as depicted in overview - dimension A -.
  2. Bring calibration platform to a horizontal position.
