Testing requirements
- Vehicle must not be started or driven (with battery to be tested) for at least 2 hours before taking measurements.
- No loads are to be applied to the battery for at least 2 hours before taking measurements.
- Battery must not be charged for at least 2 hours before taking measurements.
- With ignition switched off, measure voltage between battery terminals. If the multimeter displays 12.5 volts or more, the battery is OK. If voltage is below 12.5 volts, the cause must be determined.
