Removing

Scheme 250

Press the button -3- for the head restraint height adjustment -2- in the direction of the -arrow- and pull the head restraint -1- out of the backrest -2- until it stops.

Using a small flat-head screwdriver, press the locking spring as far as the stop through the opening -arrow- in the headrest guide -1-.

Remove the headrest -2- from the backrest -3-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Slide the headrest into the backrest as far as the bottom position.

Check if the headrest locks correctly.

1. It must not be possible to pull the headrest back out of the backrest.

Removing

Remove the headrests. Refer to HEADREST .

Remove the cover with upholstery from the backrest shell. Refer to

1. «BACKREST WITH PASS-THROUGH»(/audi/s4/b8-2011-2015/remont/seats/#seat-upholstery-covers-sedan__backrest-with-pass-through) .
2. «BACKREST WITH COVER OR STORAGE COMPARTMENT»(/audi/s4/b8-2011-2015/remont/seats/#seat-upholstery-covers-sedan__backrest-with-cover-or-storage-compartment) .
3. «FIXED REAR SEAT BACKREST»(/audi/s4/b8-2011-2015/remont/seats/#seat-upholstery-covers-sedan__fixed-rear-seat-backrest) .

Fold the cover with upholstery -1- up until the headrest tube -2- welded into the backrest shell -3- with the headrest guide -4- is visible.

Scheme 252

Press the retaining tab -arrow A- down until the headrest guide is no longer locked.

Note. Ignore -arrow B-.

Pull the head restraint guide upward and out of the head restraint tube.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Slide the headrest guide -4- into the headrest tube -2- until the retaining tab -arrow A- engages in the window -arrow B-.

Before continuing the installation of the upholstery and cover, make sure both headrest guides are engaged and cannot be pulled out.
