4-Cylinder

Thermostat begins opening at 194°F (90°C), and fully opens at 216°F (102°C). When installing thermostat, make sure arrow on thermostat housing points toward fender. Always replace "O" ring between water pump housing and thermostat housing.

5-Cylinder

Thermostat begins opening at 194°F (90°C), and fully opens at 216°F (102°C). Minimum opening distance of thermostat is .27" (7 mm). When installing, position arrow on housing pointing downward across hose connection.

Cap pressure relief valve opens between 17-19 psi (1.2-1.3 kg/cm 2 ). Maximum opening pressure is 23 psi (1.6 kg/cm 2 ).

Relief valve opens at 17-19 psi (1.20-1.33 kg/cm 2 ) to relieve pressure.

Note. Always use ethylene glycol based (phosphate-free) antifreeze in the 5-cylinder engine.
