CONTACT CORROSION
Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.
For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating are used.
In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive consist of non-conductive materials.
If there are doubts as to whether parts are suitable or not, use new parts.
Note. We only recommend original replacement parts as they have been tested and are compatible with aluminum. We recommend using genuine Audi accessories. Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by warranty.

HEADLAMPS, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING CONDITIONS
- Tire pressure must be OK
- Headlamp lenses must be clean and dry.
- Headlamps lenses must not be damaged.
- Headlamp reflectors and all bulbs must be OK.
- Vehicle load must be created.
Vehicle load on driver's seat in otherwise unloaded vehicle (curb weight).
- One person or 75 kg (167).
The curb weight is the weight of the operational vehicle with completely full fuel tank, including the weight of all equipment carried in operation.
- Fuel tank: at least 90% full.
- Equipment present: for example, spare wheel, tools, vehicle jack, fire extinguisher, etc.
If the fuel tank is not at least 90% full, the load must be created as follows.
Check fuel tank fill lever in instrument cluster tank gauge and compare with the following table. Place additional weight in the luggage compartment, if necessary.
| Tank Gauge | Additional Weight in kg (lbs) |
|---|---|
| 1/4 | 55 (121) |
| 1/2 | 37 (81) |
| 3/4 | 18 (40) |
| Full | 0 (0) |
Example: if the fuel tank is half full, an additional 37 kg (approximately 81 lbs.) must be placed in the luggage compartment.
Note. Use fuel containers filled with water as additional weight (a 5 liter fuel container filled with water weighs 5 kg (11 lbs.)).
Scheme 18
Scheme 19
- Roll the vehicle several yards or move it back and forth several times to seat the springs.
- Vehicle and headlamp adjusting unit must be on a level surface.
- Parking brake must not be engaged so vehicle is not under stress.
- Headlamp adjusting unit must be aligned to vehicle.
- The headlamp adjuster must be distance -a- 30 to 70 cm in front of the headlamp and should not deviate more than dimension -b- = 3 cm from the headlamp center point.
- Set the angle dimension on the headlamp adjusting unit.
- The angle dimension -arrow- is stamped on the upper edge of the headlamp -1- in %.
Note. The headlamp must be adjusted according to the angle dimension stamped on the headlamp. The percentage indicator is based on a 10 meter projection distance. Fro example, an angle dimension of 1.0% corresponds to 10 cm.
