HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING
- Lift storage compartment lid. (Scheme 1) Remove hydraulic pump oil filler plug. If oil level is not between MIN and MAX mark, add Hydraulic Oil (G 002 500) as necessary.
- Install oil filler plug, but DO NOT tighten (to allow air to escape). Insert key in ignition and leave in ON position. Operate switch to open and close convertible top 5 times. Check oil level and add if necessary. Tighten oil filler plug and close convertible top.

LOWER HYDRAULIC CYLINDER
Note. Remove convertible top from vehicle to remove lower hydraulic cylinder.
Removal
- Open convertible top to center position and mark position of lock assemblies. Clean all connections before removing any components. Remove appropriate trim panels.
- Mark position of all brackets and spacers. With assistance, lift convertible top frame out of vehicle. Mark supply and return connections on cylinder and hoses. CAUTION: Hydraulic fluid will damage paint. Remove escaping fluid immediately.
- Place shop towels under cylinder to catch any escaping fluid. Remove hydraulic cylinder hoses. Remove hydraulic cylinder bracket. Remove hydraulic cylinder pivot pin. Remove hydraulic cylinder nuts. Remove hydraulic cylinder.
Installation
To install, reverse removal procedure. Install spacers in the same location from which they were removed. Tighten hydraulic cylinder hoses to 21 ft. lbs. (28 N.m). Bleed hydraulic system. See procedures under HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING .
- Open convertible top fully. Lift up rear part of convertible top frame. Clean all connections before removing any components. Remove hydraulic cylinder ball joint rings. Remove tie straps. Remove hydraulic cylinder. CAUTION: Hydraulic fluid will damage paint. Remove escaping fluid immediately.
- Close storage compartment lid. Place shop towels on lid. Place hydraulic cylinder on shop towels. Mark supply and return connections on cylinder and hoses. Remove hydraulic cylinder hoses.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten hose connections to 21 ft. lbs. (28 N.m). Bleed hydraulic system. See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING .
- Open convertible top fully. Clean all connections before removing any components. Disconnect negative battery cable. Lift storage compartment lid. (Scheme 1) Remove electrical connectors. CAUTION: Hydraulic fluid will damage paint. Remove escaping fluid immediately.
- Place shop towels around and under pump. Loosen oil filler plug to remove residual pressure. Disconnect hydraulic hoses. Remove rubber mountings. Remove hydraulic pump bracket. Remove hydraulic pump.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten pump-to-bracket screws to 84 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). Tighten bracket bolts to 18 ft. lbs ((24 N.m). Bleed hydraulic system. See procedures under HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING .
