High and low pressure testing

Before beginning

Check brake system (brake master cylinder, brake hoses, brake lines and brake calipers) for leaks and function.

High pressure testing

Scheme 84

1. Remove bleeder screw at one of the front brake calipers. Connect pressure gauge V.A.G 1310 or V.A.G 1310A Brake Pressure Gauge V.A.G 1310/A and bleed.
2. Install brake pedal loading device between brake pedal and driver seat. Apply pressure to brake pedal until gauge indicates a pressure of 50 bar. The pressure must not drop by more than 4 bar during the test period of 45 seconds. If pressure drop is large, replace hydraulic unit.

Low pressure testing

1. Set brake pedal loading device back far enough that the pressure gauge indicates 6 bar positive pressure.
2. The pressure must not drop by more than 1 bar during a test period of 3 minutes.

If pressure drop is large, replace hydraulic unit.
