On Board Diagnostic (OBD), function
The control module for parking aid is controlled by an internal microprocessor with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capability. If malfunctions occur in monitored sensors and components, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) will be stored in memory.
Before performing any troubleshooting or inspection, always begin by checking for DTCs using the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program. DTCs stored in memory are retrieved/checked with either the VAG 1551 scan tool or VAS 5051 in mode "Self Diagnosis". See ACOUSTIC PARKING SYSTEM, ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) .
Where applicable, also use VAS 5051 tester in mode "Guided Fault Finding".

Automatic vertical headlight aim control, servicing
| CAUTION | Before beginning repairs on the electrical system: Obtain the anti-theft radio security code. Switch the ignition off. Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap. On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. See EXAMPLE: SWITCH OFF EMERGENCY (BACK-UP) BATTERY . After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows according to Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual. After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module. See EXAMPLE: SWITCH ON EMERGENCY (BACK-UP) BATTERY . |
To minimize contact corrosion, only use approved fasteners (screws, nuts, bolts, washers etc.)
Where applicable, fasteners may have a special surface coating recognizable by a greenish color.
Coated fasteners must also be stored separately.
The automatic vertical headlight aim control system control module is controlled by an internal microprocessor with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capability.
See AUTOMATIC VERTICAL HEADLIGHT AIM CONTROL, ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) .
Where applicable, also use VAS 5051 tester in mode "Guided Fault Finding".
