Transfer Case Audi A8 D2

Transfer Case

Note. Transfer case may also be known as a distributor gear.

  1. Disconnect right three way catalytic converter from rear exhaust system. Press three way catalytic converter to right. Place oil drain pan underneath distributor gear to catch fluid.
  2. Remove drain plug (arrow "A"), and drain fluid. (Scheme 10) Allow fluid to drain. Install NEW drain plug.
  3. Remove filler plug (arrow "B"). Fill with fluid. See «FLUID CAPACITIES»(/audi/a8/d2-1994-1999/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01l-awd__fluid-capacities). Install filler plug.
  4. Test drive vehicle. Check distributor gear fluid level again, and top off as necessary. See «CHECKING FLUID LEVEL»(/audi/a8/d2-1994-1999/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01l-awd__checking-fluid-level). Tighten transfer case drain and filler plugs to specification.
