To avoid noises and stresses in the exhaust system, the exhaust system should be aligned free of stress as follows

1. Loosen all exhaust system bolted connections (except exhaust manifold) including fastening parts for three way catalytic converter.

Note. The dimensions listed are reference dimensions. The exhaust system should be aligned when cold. Check alignment at various points, in the order shown.

Identifying Separation Point Between Center Silencer And Rear Silencer (Engine Code ABZ). Scheme 2

1. Check pre-load -a- at left retaining loop for rear silencer. Dimension -a- = approx. 10 mm (3/8 in.) Arrow points toward front of vehicle. see scheme 6: Checking Pre-Load At Left Retaining Loop For Rear Silencer (Engine Code ABZ)

1. Distance -a- equal on both sides
