CONTACT CORROSION

Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.

For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating are used.

In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive consist of non-conductive materials.

If there are doubts as to whether parts are suitable or not, use new parts.

Note. We only recommend original replacement parts, they have been tested and are compatible with aluminum. We recommend using Audi accessories. Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by warranty.

SPRAY NOZZLES

Note. The nozzles are already adjusted by the manufacturer and must not be adjusted after installation.

WASHER FLUID LINES

The following descriptions can be found in electrical system general information. Refer to General Information

  1. Washer fluid line hose connections, disconnecting and connecting
  2. Corrugated hose washer fluid line, repairing

WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BRINGING INTO SERVICE POSITION

Note. If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during the work procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

CAUTIONRisk of damaging the hood by running the wipers back in basic position. Do not drive a vehicle with windshield wiper arms folded up. The windshield wipers automatically go back into their rest position when the wiper switch is activated or when driving faster than 6 km/h (4 mph).

Make sure the wiper blades are not frozen.

Switch on ignition.

Activate the menu point Windshield Wipers "on" in the "MMI". Refer to the Owner's Manual.

  1. The windshield wipers run into service position.

Turn off the ignition.

PROCEDURE

Note. If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during the work procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

Remove wiper arms. Refer to WIPER ARMS .

Switch on ignition.

Activate one-touch wiping and let wiper motor run to end position.

Note. Every second time the wiper motor is switched off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the other way. To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be used to adjust the wiper crank. Only use end position where wiper arms run directly end position with no understroke. Activate one-touch wiping again if necessary.

Turn off the ignition.

Position wiper arm with wiper blade installed at wiper axles and align wiper blade at windshield as follows

Scheme 19

Scheme 19: PROCEDURE
  1. Dimension -a- = 0 + 10 mm.
  2. Dimension -b- = 0 + 10 mm.

Note. The dimensions give the distance of the wiper blade tips to the cowl panel trim on the lower edge of the windshield.

Tighten the nuts -2- for the wiper arms -1-.
