CONTACT CORROSION

Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.

For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating are used.

In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive consist of non-conductive materials.

If there are doubts as to whether parts are suitable or not, use new parts.

Note. We only recommend original replacement parts, they have been tested and are compatible with aluminum. We recommend using Audi accessories. Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by warranty.

HEADLAMPS

Note. Headlamps must be adjusted after performing measures that could influence headlamp adjustment. Refer to HALOGEN HEADLAMP, ADJUSTING or HID HEADLAMP, ADJUSTING .

Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to CONTACT CORROSION .

HID HEADLAMPS, USAGE AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

STEERING COLUMN SWITCH MODULE AND ELECTRONIC IGNITION LOCK

  1. The steering column switch module consists of coil connector with slip ring, steering angle sensor -G85-, steering column switch (turn signal indicator switch, wiper switch, cruise control switch) and steering column electronic systems control module -J527-.
  2. Fault finding is done in Guided Fault Finding using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

  3. The headlamp lens may not be damaged.
  4. Headlamp reflectors and bulbs OK.
  5. Vehicle load must be created.

Vehicle load on driver's seat in otherwise unloaded vehicle (curb weight).

  1. One person or 75 kg (165 lb.).

The curb weight is the weight of the operational vehicle with completely full fuel tank, including the weight of all equipment carried in operation.

  1. Fuel tank: at least 90% full.
  2. Equipment: for example, spare wheel, tools, vehicle jack, fire extinguisher, etc.

If the fuel tank is not at least 90% full, the load must be created as follows.

Check fuel tank fill lever in instrument cluster tank gauge and compare with the following table. Place additional weight in the luggage compartment, if necessary.

Fuel gaugeAdditional Weight In kg
1/445 (99 lb.)
1/230 (66 lb.)
3/415 (33 lb.)
Full0
Example: If the fuel tank is half full, an additional 30 kg (66 lb.) must be placed in the luggage compartment.

Note. Use fuel containers filled with water as additional weight (a 5 liter (1.3 gal.) fuel container filled with water weighs 5 kg (11 lb.).
