The rear final drive 0BD is allocated to the following transmissions

  1. 6-speed manual transmission 0B2 AWD
  2. 6-speed manual transmission 0B4 AWD
  3. 7-speed S-tronic transmission 0B5 AWD
  4. Automatic transmission 0B6 AWD
  5. 8-speed automatic transmission 0BK AWD

The other data is not needed.

Note. When replacing a rear final drive, always pay close attention to the rear final drive code, the PR number and the engine code. This is the only way to make sure the allocation is correct.

LIFT MODE ON VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION

Before raising a vehicle with air spring suspension on a 2-pillar lifting platform (wheels off the ground), first activate the vehicle jack mode. Refer to Diagnosis and Testing .

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION

Note. To perform a problem-free and successful transmission repair, extreme caution and cleanliness, as well as properly functioning tools are an important requirement. Understandably, general safety guidelines apply when performing repairs.

Rear Final Drive

  1. When replacing the rear final drive, check and if necessary, correct oil level in final drive. Refer to «REAR FINAL DRIVE GEAR OIL, CHECKING»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/axle-shafts/#rear-final-drive-0bd-coupe__rear-final-drive-gear-oil-checking) .
  2. Capacities and specifications, refer to «ENGINE CODE, TRANSMISSION ALLOCATION, RATIOS AND CAPACITIES»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/differentials-drive-axles/#general-technical-data-rear-final-drive-0bd-coupe) .
  3. Clean the contact surfaces before installing the brackets and waxed components. Contact surfaces must be free of wax and grease.
  4. Thoroughly clean all connections and the surrounding area before disconnecting.

Oil, Environment and Disposal Regulations

  1. Be very careful when handling transmission fluid and other fluids.
  2. Dispose of the drained fluids properly.
  3. Follow all environment and disposal regulations.
  4. Be sure to read the instructions on the fluid containers.

O-rings, Seals and Gaskets

Scheme 10

Scheme 10
  1. Always replace the O-rings, seals and gaskets.
  2. Check the contact surfaces on the housing and shaft for burrs and damage after removing the seals.
  3. Thoroughly clean the separating surfaces on the housing before assembling.
  4. Before installing, lightly oil the outer circumference of shaft seals and fill gap between sealing lips -arrow- half way with sealing grease G 052 128 A1.
  5. The open side on the shaft seals faces the fluid to be sealed off.
  6. Lightly lubricate O-rings before installing, this prevents the rings from being pinched when inserting.
  7. Check the final drive oil level after replacing any seals or gaskets. Refer to «REAR FINAL DRIVE GEAR OIL, CHECKING»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/axle-shafts/#rear-final-drive-0bd-coupe__rear-final-drive-gear-oil-checking) .

Circlips

Scheme 11

Scheme 11
  1. Do not stretch the circlips.
  2. Always replace damaged or stretched circlips.
  3. The circlips must touch the bottom of the groove.
  4. Replace the adapter sleeves. Installation position: Slot -A- is longitudinal to line of force -arrow-.

Bolts and Nuts

  1. Loosen and tighten the bolts and nuts of covers and housings in a diagonal sequence.
  2. Do not cant, rather loosen and tighten especially sensitive parts in diagonal manner in stages.
  3. Torque specifications for unoiled bolts and nuts are given.
  4. Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
  5. Using a wire brush, clean threads of bolts (replace outer driveshaft bolts) which are secured with locking compound. Install the bolts with locking fluid AMV 185 101 A1.
  6. If self-locking bolts were installed or if regular bolts were installed with locking fluid, then the threaded holes must be cleaned with a thread cutter. If the holes are not cleaned, then the bolts could break off the next time they are removed.
