CONTACT CORROSION

Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.

For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating are used.

In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive consist of non-conductive materials.

If there are doubts as to whether parts are suitable or not, use new parts.

  1. We only recommend original replacement parts, they have been tested and are compatible with aluminum.
  2. We recommend using Audi accessories.
  3. Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by warranty.

FLUID HOSES

The following descriptions can be found in the General Information .

  1. Washer fluid line hose connections, disconnecting and connecting

WIPERS, BRINGING INTO SERVICE POSITION

Note. If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during this procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

Make sure the wiper blades are not frozen.

Turn on ignition.

Using the multimedia control head, activate the menu entry windshield wiper "on". Refer to the Owner's Manual.

  1. The windshield wipers run into "service position".

Turn off the ignition.

CAUTIONRisk of damaging the hood by running the wipers back in basic position. Do not drive a vehicle with the windshield wiper arms folded up. The windshield wipers automatically go back into their rest position when the wiper switch is activated or when driving faster than 6 km/h.

WIPER ARM, ADJUSTING

Procedure

Note. If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during this procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

Remove the wiper arms. Refer to WIPER ARMS .

Turn on the ignition.

Activate the "one-touch wiping" and let the wiper motor run to the end position.

Note. Every second time the wiper motor is turned off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the other way. To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to the rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be used to adjust the wiper crank. Only use the end position where the wiper arms run directly to the end position with no under stroke. Activate "one-touch wiping" again if necessary.

Turn off the ignition.

Position the wiper arm with wiper blade, installed at the wiper axis and align the wiper blade at the windshield as follows

Scheme 70

Scheme 70: WIPER ARM, ADJUSTING
  1. Dimension -a- = 0 + 10 mm.
  2. Dimension -b- = 0 + 10 mm.

Note. The dimensions give the distance of the wiper blade tips to the cowl panel trim on the lower edge of the windshield.

Tighten the nuts -2- for the wiper arms -1-.

  1. Tightening specification, refer to «WIPER SYSTEM OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/wiperwasher-systems/#wiperwasher-systems-avant__wiper-system-overview) .

Turn on the ignition.

Operate the "one-touch wiping" and let the wiper arms run to the end position.

Turn off the ignition.

Check the adjustment of the wiper arms again, correct if necessary.

Install the caps -arrows- onto the wiper arms.
