COOLING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS Audi A4 B8

COOLING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  1. Cooling System Tester V.A.G 1274 B
  2. Adapter V.A.G 1274/8
  3. Adapter V.A.G 1274/9

Procedure

  1. Engine at operating temperature.
WARNINGRisk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant. The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm. Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully open.

Open the coolant reservoir cap.

Position the V.A.G 1274 B with the V.A.G 1274/8 on coolant reservoir.

Scheme 14

Scheme 14

Generate a positive pressure of approximately 1.0 bar using hand pump of cooling system tester.

If pressure decreases, search for leaking areas and repair the malfunction.

Scheme 15: PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE IN CAP, CHECKING

Attach the V.A.G 1274 B with the V.A.G 1274/9 to sealing cap.

Generate pressure with cooling system tester hand pump.

  1. The pressure release valve must open at 1.4 to 1.6 bar.
