Removing
Vehicles with Stationary Selector Mechanism Cover
Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, WITH STATIONARY SELECTOR MECHANISM COVER .
Turn off the ignition.
Remove the shift mechanism cover. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER BOOT, SEPARATING FROM SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, FOR VEHICLES WITH SELECTOR LEVER BOOTS
Vehicles with a Selector Lever Boot
Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, WITH SELECTOR LEVER BOOT .
Turn off the ignition.
Remove selector lever scale illumination bulb -L101-. Refer to Selector Lever Scale Illumination Bulb -L101- FOR VEHICLES WITH SELECTOR LEVER BOOTS .
All Vehicles
Move the selector lever into P.
Remove ash tray or storage before selector mechanism. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Separate the electrical connector -A- from the function unit of the selector mechanism to the vehicle wire set.
Note. Ignore -1, B, C- and -arrow-.
4-Cylinder 2.0L TFSI Vehicles
For this engine there are two different versions.
Version 1, with Side Air Filter Housing
Disconnect the connector -1- on the mass air flow sensor -G70-.
Remove the air guide hose -2-.
Remove the screw -4- and the air filter housing.
Note. Ignore -3-.
Version 2, with Air Filter Inside the Engine Cover
Disconnect the connector -3- on the mass air flow sensor -G70-.
Open the clips -1 and 2- and remove the air guide hose from the mass air flow sensor.
Open the spring clamps -4- remove the air intake hose from the engine cover.
| CAUTION | Danger of breaking the engine cover. Always follow the removal sequence. |
Carefully remove the engine cover from -1 - 2 - 3 - 4-.
Vehicles with 6-cylinder 3.2L Engine
Remove vacuum hose -2- on air duct hose.
Remove air guide hose -1- on the throttle valve control module -J338-.
Disconnect the connector -3- on the mass air flow sensor -G70-.
Remove upper section of the air filter -arrow-.
Remove filter insert.
Remove the lower section of the air filter -arrows-.
All Vehicles
- Selector lever in P.
Remove the securing clamps -C-.
Move the securing clamps -A- and remove.
Press selector lever cable from the transmission shift lever -arrow- and place above.
Note. Do not bend the selector lever cable. Ignore -1, B, D-.
Lift the vehicle.
Remove the front exhaust pipe, the catalytic converters and muffler. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) CCTA] Removal and Installation .
Remove the driveshaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Remove heat shield behind, to do this, loosen the clips -arrows-.
Scheme 104
Note. A second technician is required under the vehicle to remove the selector mechanism function unit.
Remove the nuts -arrows- in the vehicle interior.
Scheme 105
Remove the selector mechanism function unit downward, together with the selector lever cable.
Note. Do not bend the selector lever cable.
The selector mechanism function unit can be replaced without a selector lever cable. For this, the selector lever cable must be separated from the selector mechanism function unit. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following
- Tightening specifications, refer to «SELECTOR MECHANISM OVERVIEW»(ref-496080-S01611701902012082100000) .
Note. Do not bend the selector lever cable.
Install heat shield and CW coverings for underbody. Refer to Removal and Installation
Install the driveshaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Install the exhaust system free of tension. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA] Description and Operation or to [For engine(s) CCTA] Description and Operation .
Install ash tray or storage before selector mechanism. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Install the selector mechanism cover. Refer to STATIONARY SELECTOR MECHANISM COVER .
Install the selector lever handle: Vehicles with fixed covering for selector mechanism, refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, WITH STATIONARY SELECTOR MECHANISM COVER , vehicles with selector lever boot, refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, WITH SELECTOR LEVER BOOT .
Refer to IGNITION KEY LOCK, CHECK FUNCTION .
Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECK AND ADJUST IF NECESSARY .
Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .
Install the air filter housing. Refer to [For engine(s) CCTA] Removal and Installation or to [For engine(s) CBRA] Removal and Installation .
