Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
Release cover cap -1- in -direction of arrow-.
Remove the wiring bracket -3- upward from the connector station.

Disconnect seat operating electrical connector -2-.

Release clip in -direction of arrow- with a small screwdriver and disconnect side airbag electrical connector -1-.
Connect the VAS 6235 to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING .
Note. Ensure airbag adapter engages correctly.

Note. If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.

Connect the airbag connector -3- to the airbag adapter connector -4-.

Note. On power seats, the upper and lower seat pan frames can be separated and replaced individually. When removing the seat pan, make sure the bushings in the bearing points (upper and lower frame threaded connection) are not damaged. These bushing cannot be replaced with workshop materials.

Remove front seat. Refer to POWER SEAT .
Secure the seat on the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136 .
Remove the backrest. Refer to BACKREST .
Remove cover with seat pan upholstery. Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND UPHOLSTERY .
Disconnect electrical connectors if necessary.
Replacing the Seat Pan Upper Frame
Remove wiring harnesses and individual wires from seat pan upper frame.
Continuation, Replacing Upper or Lower Frame

Install the seat height adjustment motor that was removed in the new seat pan lower frame. Refer to SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT MOTOR .
Install the seat inclination adjustment motor that was removed in the new seat pan lower frame. Refer to SEAT ANGLE ADJUSTMENT MOTOR .
Do not damage the bushings -1- on the seat pan lower frame -2- during the remaining assembly steps.

FRONT MANUAL SEAT
Removing

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
Bring headrest into lowest lock position.
Pull the handle for the forward/back adjustment -2- and move the seat -4- all the way back.

Remove the front screws -1- and -3-.
Pull the handle for the seat forward/back adjustment and move the seat all the way forward.
Remove the rear screws -5- and -6-.
Tip seat backward.

Raise the seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle.

Hook in 3399 -item 2- again and pry in -direction of arrow B-.
Remove backrest adjustment wheel -1-.
Installation
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following
Hand wheel must be pressed on until it audibly engages.
Note. If the hand wheel for backrest adjustment sits loosely on the adjustment shaft, the hand wheel for backrest adjustment must be replaced.
SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE

Push seat height adjustment handle down and hold in this position.
Using a narrow screwdriver, press clips -1- inward -arrow A- and remove seat height adjustment handle -2- from lever -arrow B-.
Installation

Pull the storage compartment forward and out -arrow B-.
Remove the bolts -2- and -3- on the side trim on the door sill side.

Disconnect the electrical connectors -2- and -6- on the motors for the lumbar support adjustment.
Disconnect Velcro connector between four-way lumber support -3- and backrest upholstery -4-.
Remove four-way lumbar support.

Lay plastic film -1- over Velcro strips -2- on four-way lumbar support. Secure the plastic sheet on the four-way lumbar support.
Make sure the four-way lumbar support is attached to four-way lumbar support frame with assembly fastener -3- or a suitable pin.
Position lumbar support frame behind backrest and engage lumbar support frame at top left and right in mounts on frame.
Rivet the lower frame for the four-way lumbar support to the backrest frame.

Move the seat as far up as possible.

Remove the bolts -3- for the cross bar -2- on both sides.
Disconnect the electrical connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.
Move seat until bolts -4- (quantity: 4) are visible.
