Note. Removal and Installation can only be done with the seat removed.
Removing
| WARNING | Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin. |
Bring seat as far up as possible.
Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched off. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
Remove front seat
- Manual seat, refer to «FRONT MANUAL SEAT»(/audi/a3/8p-2-2008-2013/remont/seats/#seat-frames__front-manual-seat)
- Power seat, refer to «POWER SEAT»(/audi/a3/8p-2-2008-2013/remont/seats/#seat-frames__power-seat)
Secure the seat on the VAS 6136. Refer to FRONT SEAT, INSTALLING ON VAS 6136 .
Move the seat rail all the way to the front so that the bolt for the seat belt latch is accessible.
If applicable, free up the electrical wire -2-.
Scheme 39
Remove bolt -arrow-.
Remove the seat belt latch -1-.
Note. The electrical wire remains connected.
Unclip backrest cover -4-.
Scheme 40
Remove expanding clip -3-, press clamping pin through to the inside.
Remove the bolt -2-.
Remove the trim -1- in -direction of arrow-.
Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following
Note. Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
Install the seat belt latch.
| WARNING | Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery. |
Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
Note. If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again..
