"HOT ENGINE" COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT
If light comes on while driving, it indicates that the engine may be overheating due to low coolant level. Stop all vehicle operations and allow engine to cool down before checking anything in the engine compartment. Have the system checked and serviced as necessary.
"COLD ENGINE" COOLANT TEMPERATURE LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Light comes on when the ignition is turned on and will remain on until engine has reached operating temperature. Maintain moderate speed and avoid high engine RPM until light has gone out.
OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
Light indicates low oil pressure, but does not indicate amount of oil in engine. Light is designed to come on with ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check, but should go out shortly after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, have the system checked promptly. Do not operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected.
ALTERNATOR WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a possible malfunction in the electrical system or the V-belt (alternator driving belt) may be loose or broken. Stop all operations of vehicle and have the system checked and serviced immediately.
"BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT
This light is designed to come on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and should go out after engine is started and the parking brake fully released. If light does not come on as designed or comes on at any other time, it indicates a potential problem in the electronic and/or braking system. Have the system inspected and serviced immediately, continued operation of vehicle in this condition is dangerous.
OXYGEN SENSOR "OXS" LIGHT
Light comes on when the ignition is turned on and goes out after engine is started. Light will come on (and remain on) every 30,000 miles as a maintenance service reminder for the emission control system.
ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Light comes on when the ignition is turned on and goes out after engine is started. If it remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a possible malfunction in the engine's electronic control system. Do not operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected. If necessary, drive at very moderate speed and have the system checked and serviced promptly.
GLOW PLUG LIGHT (DIESEL ENGINE)
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position and will remain on until the glow plugs are preheated. Do not start engine until light has gone out. "Pre-glow" time will vary depending on temperature. It will take longer for the engine to preheat in cold weather.
AUTO-CHECK SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
This system monitors the engine coolant level, oil pressure, brake light, headlight and/or tail light, brake pads, washer fluid, fuel level and battery voltage. Should a malfunction occur in one of the systems being monitored, it will be audibly signaled as well as displayed by a Red (danger) or Yellow (warning) light in the instrument cluster. The Red blinking symbols will appear and three warning tones will sound at the same time to indicate low coolant level and/or low engine oil pressure. In such cases, have the system checked and serviced immediately. Do not operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected. The Yellow symbols will appear along with one warning tone to indicate worn brake pads, low fuel level, low/high battery voltage, defective brake light, defective headlight and/or defective tail lights. The malfunction(s) displayed should be corrected as soon as possible. If both warning and danger malfunctions have occurred, both the Yellow and Red symbols will blink alternately.
SYSTEM "OK" INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
The "OK" light comes on when the ignition is turned on to indicate all systems are operating correctly.
STOP LIGHT INDICATOR (IF EQUIPPED)
Light indicates the wiring connections need servicing or the brake light bulbs and/or fuses need to be replaced.
WORN BRAKE PAD INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Light indicates the front and rear brake pads need to be checked and replaced as necessary.
HEADLIGHT/TAIL LIGHT INDICATOR (IF EQUIPPED)
If light comes on, it indicates that the electrical circuits need repairing or the light bulbs and/or fuses need replacing.
