COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT
If light comes on while driving, it indicates that the engine may be overheating due to low coolant level. Stop all vehicle operations and allow engine to cool before checking engine compartment. Have the system checked and serviced as necessary.
OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
Light indicates low oil pressure, but does not indicate amount of oil in engine. If light comes on, have the system checked as soon as possible. Do not operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected.
ALTERNATOR WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a possible malfunction in the electrical system or the V-belt (alternator driving belt) may be loose or broken. If necessary, continue driving with all unnecessary electrical equipment switched off. System should be checked and serviced immediately.
"ANTI-LOCK OFF" WARNING LIGHT
Light is designed to come on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position and should go out shortly after engine is started. On the Audi 100 and 200 Quattro models, the warning light goes out only when the differential lock is disengaged. If light remains on or comes on while driving with unlocked differential (Quattro models) and ABS switch in the "ON" position, it indicates a potential problem in the system and should be inspected as soon as possible. The regular braking system will still operate normally but without anti-lock function.
"BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT
This light is designed to come on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and should go out after engine is started. Light will also come on with the parking brake fully or partially engaged. If the light remains on or comes on at any other time, it indicates a potential problem in the brake system and possible loss of power assisted steering. Have the system inspected and serviced immediately.

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM (ECS) MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT
This system monitors the various components of vehicle's emission control. The ECS-malfunction indicator light is designed to come on with the ignition key in the "ON" position as a bulb check and should go out after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a potential malfunction in the emission control system. In such case, operate vehicle with reduced power, and have the system checked and serviced promptly.
AUTO-CHECK SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
This system monitors the engine coolant level, oil pressure, brake light, headlight and/or tail light, brake pads, washer fluid, fuel level and battery voltage. Should a malfunction occur in one of the systems being monitored, it will be audibly signaled as well as displayed by a Red (danger) or Yellow (warning) lights in the instrument cluster. The Red blinking symbols will appear and three warning tones will sound at the same time to indicate low coolant level and/or low engine oil pressure. In such cases, have the system checked and serviced immediately. Do not operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected. The Yellow symbols will appear along with one warning tone to indicate worn brake pads, low fuel level, low/high battery voltage, defective brake light, defective headlight and/or defective tail lights. The malfunction displayed should be corrected as soon as possible. If both warning and danger malfunctions have occured, both the Yellow and Red symbols will blink alternately.
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)
Light should come on briefly (about 10 seconds) with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a system check and goes out shortly after. If light does not come on as designed or comes on at any other time, it indicates a system malfunction and it should be checked and serviced immediately.
SYSTEM "OK" INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
The "OK" light comes on when the ignition is turned on to indicate all systems are operating correctly.
"BRAKE LIGHT" INDICATOR (IF EQUIPPED)
Light indicates the wiring connections need servicing or the brake light bulbs and/or fuses need to be replaced.
WORN BRAKE PAD INDICATOR LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Light indicates the front and rear brake pads need to be checked and replaced as necessary.
HEADLIGHT/TAIL LIGHT INDICATOR (IF EQUIPPED)
If light comes on, it indicates that the electrical circuits need repairing or the light bulbs and/or fuses need replacing.
