Hood Opener Cable Replacement

  1. Remove these items: Front fender trim (see «FRONT FENDER TRIM REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-fender-trim-replacement) ) Front grille cover (see «FRONT GRILLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-grille-replacement) ) Front Inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
  2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ).
  3. Using a clip remover, detach the clips (C, D), and remove the grommet (E) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Route the cable through the holes (F) in the body and front fender bulkhead correctly.

Trunk Lid Opener Cable/Fuel Fill Door Opener Cable Replacement

  1.   2. Pull the carpet back as necessary.
  3. Disconnect the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable (A) from the opener (B) (see «TRUNK LID OPENER/FUEL FILL DOOR OPENER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers__trunk-lid-openerfuel-fill-door-opener) ).
  4. Release the opener cable from the clip (C). Remove the cushion tape (D).
  5. Remove the fuel fill door latch (A) by turning it 90°, and detach the opener cable junction box (B) from the body.
  6. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (C) from the trunk lid latch (D) (see «TRUNK LID LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ).
  7. Using a clip remover. Release the trunk lid opener/ fuel fill door opener cable from the clips (E, F).
  8. Remove the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  9. Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) and cushion tape (D) as shown. Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.

  1. Remove the front grille cover (see «FRONT GRILLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-grille-replacement) ).
  2. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch cover (A) from the hood latch (B).
  3. Disconnect the hood latch switch connector (A).
  4. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (A) from the body.
  5. Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood latch. Take care not to kink the cable.
  6. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to each location of the hood latch indicated by the arrows. Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly and hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly. Adjust the hood latch alignment (see «HOOD ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ). Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.

  1. Remove the kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  2. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood release handle (A).
  3. Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood release handle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  4. Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note there items: Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the hood opens properly.

Trunk Lid Opener/Fuel Fill Door Opener Replacement

Special Tools Required

KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 *

Note. Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Using a trim tool, detach the hooks (A) by prying the front side cap (B), then remove it from the front door sill trim (C), and remove the opener lock cylinder (D).
  2. Remove the bolt.
  3. Remove the front door sill trim (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  4. Remove the screw, then remove the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener (A) from the front door sill trim (B).
  5. Install the opener in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the trunk lid and fuel fill door open properly and lock securely.

Trunk Lid Opener Switch Replacement

Note. Take care not to scratch the trunk lid. Put on gloves to protect your hands.

  1. Remove these items: Trunk lid trim (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK LID»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-lid) ) Rear license trim (see «REAR LICENSE TRIM REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim) )
  2. Remove the bolts and disconnect the connector (A), then remove the trunk lid switch (B).
  3. Install the switch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connector is plugged in properly. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly.

  1. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (A) and trunk lid latch switch connector (B). Take care not to kink the opener cable. Fastener Locations
  2. Remove the bolts from the trunk lid latch (C), then remove the latch.
  3. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connector is plugged in properly and the opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.
