- Check the No. 11 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 30 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. Are the fuses OK? YES - Go to step 2. NO - Replace the f use(s) and recheck.
- Remove the radiator fan relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box, and test it (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/body-electrical/#relays__power-relay-test) ). Is the relay OK? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Replace the radiator fan relay.
- Measure the voltage between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Connect radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and No. 2 with a jumper wire. Does the radiator fan run? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Go to step 6 .
- Disconnect the jumper, and turn the ignition switch ON (II). Check for voltage between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 3 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 9 . NO - Repair open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Disconnect the radiator fan motor 2P connector.
- Check for continuity between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 2. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 8. NO - Repair open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 2.
- Check for continuity between radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Replace the radiator fan motor (see «RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ). NO -Repair open in the wire between radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. If the wire is OK, check for a poor ground at G301.
- Reinstall the radiator fan relay.
- Disconnect the radiator fan switch 2P connector.
- Connect radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 1 and No. 2 with a jumper wire. Does the radiator fan run? YES - Replace the radiator fan switch (see «RADIATOR FAN SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-fan-controls) ). NO - Go to step 12.
- Remove the jumper wire, and measure the voltage between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Repair open in the wire between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. If the wire is OK, check for a poor ground at G301. NO - Repair open in the wire between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and the under-hood fuse/relay box.
'06-08 models

- Check for the PGM-FI DTCs (see «GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/auxiliary-emission-control-systems/#fuel-and-emissions-systems) ).
- Check the No. 11 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 30 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. Are the fuses OK? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Replace the fuse(s) and recheck.
- Remove the radiator fan relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box, and test it (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/body-electrical/#relays__power-relay-test) ). Is the relay OK? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Replace the radiator fan relay.
- Measure the voltage between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Connect radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and No. 2 with a jumper wire. Does the radiator fan run? YES - Go to step 6. NO - Go to step 7 .
- Disconnect the jumper, and turn the ignition switch ON (II). Check for voltage between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 3 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 10 . NO - Repair open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Disconnect the radiator fan motor 2P connector.
- Check for continuity between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 2. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 9. NO - Repair open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 2.a
- Check for continuity between radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Replace the radiator fan motor (see «RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ). NO - Repair open in the wire between radiator fan motor 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. If the wire is OK, check for a poor ground at G301.
- Connect the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) to the data link connector (DLC) (see step 2 on «HOW TO USE THE HDS (HONDA DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM)»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/auxiliary-emission-control-systems/#fuel-and-emissions-systems__how-to-use-the-hds-honda) ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- '07-08 models: Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the engine control module (ECM)/power train control module (PCM). If it doesn't communicate, troubleshoot the DLC circuit (see «'07-08 MODELS»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/testing-diagnostics/#pgm-fi-system) ).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS, then turn the ignition switch OFF. NOTE: This step must be done to protect the ECM/PCM from damage.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Disconnect under-hood fuse/relay box connector E (16P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E12 and under-hood fuse/relay box terminal E14. Is there continuity? YES - Circuit is OK. Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «UPDATING THE ECM/PCM»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/auxiliary-emission-control-systems/#fuel-and-emissions-systems__updating-the-ecmpcm) ), or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/auxiliary-emission-control-systems/#fuel-and-emissions-systems__substituting-the-ecmpcm) ), then recheck. if the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/testing-diagnostics/#pgm-fi-system__ecmpcm-replacement) ). NO - Repair open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the ECM/PCM.

- Disconnect the radiator fan switch 2P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Repair open in the wire between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF, and check for continuity between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Replace the radiator fan switch (see «RADIATOR FAN SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-fan-controls) ). NO - Repair open in the wire between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. If the wire is OK, check for a poor ground at G301.

- Remove the radiator fan relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box, and test it (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/body-electrical/#relays__power-relay-test) ). Is the relay OK? YES - Go to step 2. NO - Replace the radiator fan relay.
- Remove the radiator fan switch, and test it (see «RADIATOR FAN SWITCH TEST»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-fan-controls) ). Is the radiator fan switch OK? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Replace the radiator fan switch (see «RADIATOR FAN SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-fan-controls) ).
- Disconnect the under-hood fuse relay box 20P connector.
- Check for continuity between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between radiator fan switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and under-hood fuse/relay box. NO - Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.
Note. Bleed air from the cooling system after installing the radiator fan switch (see COOLANT REPLACEMENT ).

- Remove the radiator fan switch from the radiator (see «RADIATOR FAN SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-fan-controls) ).
- Suspend the radiator fan switch (A) in a container of water as shown.
- Heat the water, and check the temperature with a thermometer. Do not let the thermometer (B) touch the bottom of the hot container.
- Measure the continuity between terminal No. 1 and terminal No. 2 according to (Scheme 20).

- Drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ).
- Remove the splash shield (see step 26 on «TRANSMISSION REMOVAL»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission__transmission-removal) ).
- Disconnect the radiator fan switch connector (A), then remove the radiator fan switch (B).
- Install the radiator fan switch with a new O-ring (C).
- Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open (see «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tsx/i-2003-2008/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ).
