Note. Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ) Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals Set the fader and balance positions to the center
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode
- Turn on the audio-navigation unit, and check for sound in each mode (AM, FM, XM, and CD) Is the sound normal? YES -Go to step 3 NO -Go to Sound Quality Diagnosis (see «SOUND QUALITY DIAGNOSIS»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/entertainment-systems/#audio-system__sound-quality-diagnosis) ) or no sound is heard from speaker(s) (display is normal) (see «NO SOUND IS HEARD FROM THE SPEAKER(S) (DISPLAY IS NORMAL) (WITH NAVIGATION)»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/entertainment-systems/#audio-system__no-sound-is-heard-from-the) )
- Operate the volume knob to see if the volume changes Does the volume change? YES -Operation is normal NO -Go to step 4
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
- Disconnect the audio switch panel 24P connector and audio-navigation unit connector F (12P)
- Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 12 and audio-navigation unit connector F (12P) terminals No. 1 and No. 13 respectively. Is there continuity? YES -Go to step 7 NO -There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel Replace the affected shielded harness
- Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and body ground according to the table AUDIO-NAVIGATION SWITCH PANEL CONNECTOR REFERENCE CHART Audio-navigation switch panel connector Wire color 1 BLU 13 PNK Is there continuity? YES -There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel Replace the affected shielded harness NO -Go to step 8
- Check for continuity between the terminals of audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector according to the table TERMINAL REFERENCE CHART From terminal To terminals 1 (BLU) 2 (GRY), 13 (PNK) 2 (GRY) 13 (PNK) Is there continuity between any of the terminals? YES -There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel Replace the affected shielded harness NO -Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD) (see «AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/navigation-system/#navigation-system__audio-navigation-unit-removalinstallation) ), and recheck If the symptom-indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio-navigation switch panel (see «AUDIO-NAVIGATION SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/entertainment-systems/#audio-system) ), and recheck If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation switch panel
