DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
System components consist of a power window relay, power window switches and a power window motor for each door window. With ignition switch in ON position, battery voltage is supplied to power window switches. Power to switches goes through power window relay. On all models, power window switch supplies power and ground to appropriate power window motor.
Driver-side master power window switch operates all windows and offers a one-touch (auto-down) operation of driver-side window. Driver-side master power window switch also incorporates a lock-out feature to prevent passengers from operating any passenger power windows.

COMPONENT LOCATIONS
ALL WINDOWS INOPERATIVE
Check for blown ELEC IG fuse. Check for faulty circuit breaker or power window relay. Check for faulty master power window switch. Inspect power window circuit for an open or short. Ensure ground connections are clean and tight.
DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW INOPERATIVE
Check for blown ELEC IG fuse. Check for faulty circuit breaker or power window relay. Check for faulty master power window switch. Inspect power window circuit for an open or short. Ensure ground connections are clean and tight.
AUTO-DOWN FEATURE INOPERATIVE
Check for faulty master window switch.
FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW INOPERATIVE
Check for faulty master or right front power window switch. Check for faulty right front window motor. Inspect right front power window circuit for opens or shorts.
ONE OR BOTH REAR PASSENGER WINDOWS INOPERATIVE
Check for faulty master power window switch. Check for faulty left or right rear power window switch or motor. Inspect left or right rear power window circuits for an open or short.
POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST
All Models
Gain access to power window motor terminal. Apply battery voltage to either power window motor terminal and ground remaining terminal. Motor should operate unless already at maximum travel. Reverse test leads. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If motor does not operate as described, replace window motor.
POWER WINDOW RELAY TEST
Turn ignition off. Remove power window relay located in fuse box at left side of instrument panel. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between relay terminals No. 2 and 4. (Scheme 1) Continuity should not be present. Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 1 and ground terminal No. 3. Continuity should be present between terminals No. 2 and 4. If relay does not test as described, replace relay.

POWER WINDOW CIRCUIT TEST
Note. Circuit testing is performed at appropriate power window switch connector (harness side).
Left Front
- Turn ignition off. Remove left front power window switch from door trim panel. Disconnect power window switch harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between harness connector "A", terminal No. 7 (Blue/Black wire) and ground, then terminal No. 10 (Light Green/White wire) and ground. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 3). Battery voltage should be present at each terminal.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between harness connector "A", terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. Continuity should be present. Check for continuity between harness connector "A", terminals No. 5 (Blue/White wire) and No. 6 (Blue wire). Continuity should be present.
- Check for continuity between harness connector "B", terminal No. 5 (Red/Yellow wire) and ground. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 3). Continuity should be present.
Right Front
- Turn ignition off. Remove right front power window switch from door trim panel. Disconnect power window switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between harness connector "A", terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) and ground, then terminal No. 5 (Blue/Black wire) and ground.
6 (Blue/Yellow wire) and No. 7 (Brown/Yellow wire). Continuity should be present.
Right & Left Rear
- Turn ignition off. Remove right or left rear power window switch from door trim panel. Disconnect power window switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between harness connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) and ground, then terminal No. 4 (Blue/Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) Battery voltage should be present at each terminal.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between harness connector terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and ground. Continuity should be present. Check for continuity between harness connector terminals No. 5 (Blue/Red wire) and No. 6 (Brown/Red wire). Continuity should be present.
POWER WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT TEST
- Remove appropriate power window switch assembly. Disconnect power window switch harness connector. Using fused jumper wires, apply battery voltage and ground to specified connector terminals. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT TEST»(/acura/slx/i-1995-1999/remont/windows/#power-windows) table. (Scheme 2), (Scheme 3) and (Scheme 4).
- Power window motors should operate unless already at maximum travel. Reverse test leads. Power window motors should operate in opposite direction. If power window motors operate as specified, wiring circuits are okay. If power window motors do not operate as specified, repair circuit as necessary. If circuit is okay, check appropriate power window motor and replace as necessary. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST»(/acura/slx/i-1995-1999/remont/windows/#power-windows__power-window-motor-test) under COMPONENT TESTS.
