Hood Opener Cable Replacement
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.
Scheme 2
- Remove these items from the left side of the vehicle: Inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/accessories-control-systems/#openers__hood-latch-replacement) ), and remove the bolts (C), then remove the hood release handle (D) from the body.
- Using a clip remover, detach the clips (E), and remove the grommet (F) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and replace any damaged or stress-whitened clips.
Fuel Fill Door Opener Cable Replacement
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before performing repairs or service.

- Remove these items from the left side of the vehicle: Rear side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-side-area) ) Cargo area side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - CARGO AREA»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-cargo-area) )
- Pull the carpet back as necessary (see «CARPET REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__carpet-replacement) ).
- Disconnect the fuel fill door opener cable (A) from the opener (B) (see step 4 ).
- Remove the opener cable from the clips (C). Remove the cushion tape (D).
- Remove the fuel fill door latch (E) from the body by turning it 90°.
- Remove the opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Replace the cushion tape and any damaged or stress-whitened clips. Align the mark (A) on the opener cable with the clip. Make sure the fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely.
Hood Latch Replacement

- Remove the front bumper, '02-04 models (see «FRONT BUMPER SPOILER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers) ), '05-06 models (see «'05-06 MODELS»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers__05-06-models) ).
- Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (A) from the body.
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Detach the hood latch switch connector clip (A) from the body, and disconnect the hood latch switch connector (B), then remove the hood latch (C).
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to each location of the hood latch indicated by the arrows. Make sure the hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly and the hood opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the cable actuates the latch before you close the hood. Adjust the hood latch alignment (see step 3 on «ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ). Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.
Fuel Fill Door Opener Replacement

- Slide the driver's front seat rearward fully.
- Remove these items from the left side of the vehicle (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ): Door sill trim Kick panel
- Pull the carpet back as necessary (see «CARPET REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__carpet-replacement) ).
- Remove the bolts, then remove the fuel fill door opener (A) from the body.
- Disconnect the fuel fill door opener cable (B) from the opener, then remove the opener. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the opener in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely.
Hatch Handle Replacement
Special Tools Required
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

- Remove the hatch trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HATCH AREA»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-hatch-area) ).
- Using a trim tool, gently pry out the hatch handle cover (A) to detach the hook (B) from each side.
- Remove the nuts, and pull the hatch handle (C) out through the hole in the hatch. Take care not to kink the hatch opener cable (D).
- Disconnect the hatch opener cable (A) from the hatch handle (B), then remove the handle.
- Install the handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the hatch opener cable is connected securely. Make sure the hatch opens properly.
Hatch Latch Replacement

- Remove the hatch trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HATCH AREA»(/acura/rsx/i-2001-2004/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-hatch-area) ).
- Disconnect the hatch lock actuator connectors (A) and hatch latch switch connector (B), and detach the hatch latch switch connector from the hatch.
- While holding the hatch latch (C), remove the bolts, then remove the latch from the hatch.
- Disconnect the hatch opener cable (A) from the latch and the bushing (B). NOTE: Check the bushing for damage and replace if necessary.
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure each connector is plugged in properly, and the cable is connected properly. Make sure the cable actuates the latch before you close the hatch. Make sure the hatch opens properly and locks securely.
