Scheme 11: Roof Console Input Test
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Remove the roof console (see «ROOF CONSOLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/interiorillumination-lights/#interior-lights) ).
  3. Disconnect the 28P connector (A) from the roof console (B).
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6.   6. Reconnect the connector to the roof console, and make these input tests at the connector. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the roof console must be faulty; replace it (see «ROOF CONSOLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/interiorillumination-lights/#interior-lights) ). Scheme 12: MICU Input Test
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Remove the left kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  3. Disconnect the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors. NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals.
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connectors still disconnected, make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6. If all the input tests prove OK, the MICU must be faulty, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (see «DRIVER'S UNDER-DASH FUSE/RELAY BOX (MICU) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/body-electrical/#under-dash-fuserelay-box) ). Scheme 13: Driver's MPCS Unit Input Test
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Remove the driver's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  3. Disconnect driver's MPCS unit connector A (40P).
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector. If any test indicates a problem find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6. Scheme 14: Front Passenger's MPCS Unit Input Test
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Remove the front passenger's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  3. Disconnect front passenger's MPCS unit connector A (28P).
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6. Scheme 15: Left Rear Power Window Switch Input Test
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Remove the left rear power window switch (see «POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/windows/#power-windows) ).
  3. Disconnect the 14P connector from the left rear power window switch.
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the left rear power window switch must be faulty; replace it (see «POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/windows/#power-windows) ).   1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  3. Disconnect the 14P connector from the right rear power window switch.
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the right rear power window switch must be faulty; replace it (see «POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/windows/#power-windows) ). Scheme 17: Roof Console Replacement
  1. Turn the map light switch OFF.
  2. Carefully remove the front map light lens (A).
  3. Remove the two bolts and the roof console (B).
  4. Pull down on the front corners of the roof console to release the two clips.
  5. Push the console forward, then swing the rear edge down.
  6. Disconnect the 28P connector (C) from the roof console.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 18: Ambient Light Test
  1. Remove the roof console, and disconnect the 28P connector (see «ROOF CONSOLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/interiorillumination-lights/#interior-lights) ).
  2. Connect the roof console connector No. 8 terminal to battery power and No. 7 terminal to body ground. The ambient lights (A) should turn on. If they do not turn on, replace the roof console.

Scheme 19: Front Individual Map Light Replacement
  1. Carefully pry off the lens (A) with a small screwdriver. Front Map Light: 8 W x 2
  2. Check the bulb(s) (B). If the bulb is OK, but there is a malfunction, check the interior lights switch (see «ROOF CONSOLE INPUT TEST»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/interiorillumination-lights/#interior-lights) ).

Scheme 20: Rear Individual Map Light Test/Replacement
  1. Carefully pry off the lens (A) with a small screwdriver. Rear Map Light: 8 W x 2
  2. Remove the two mounting bolts.
  3. Disconnect the 10P connector (B) from the rear map light (C). Switch Test
  4. Check for continuity between the No. 5 (or No. 6) and No. 7 terminals with the left (or right) rear map light switch ON. There should be continuity.
  5. Check for continuity between the No. 5 (or No. 6) and No. 7 terminals with the left (or right) rear map light switch OFF. There should be no continuity.
  6. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the rear map light assembly. Map Light Test
  7. Connect battery power to the No. 4 terminal and ground the No. 8 terminal. The left map light should come on.
  8. Connect battery power to the No. 4 terminal and ground the No. 9 terminal. The right map light should come on.
  9. If the test result is not as specified, check the bulb. If the bulb is OK, replace the rear map light assembly. Ambient Lights Test
  10. Connect battery power to the No. 3 terminal and ground the No. 1 terminal. The ambient lights should come on.
  11. If the test result is not as specified, replace the rear map light assembly. Switch Lights Test
  12. Connect battery power to the No. 3 terminal and ground the No. 2 terminal. The switch lights should come on.
  13. If the test result is not as specified, check the bulbs. If the bulbs are OK, replace the rear map light assembly.

Scheme 21

Scheme 21: Glove Box Light Replacement
  1. Remove the glove box stops and damper (see «GLOVE BOX DAMPER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard__glove-box-damper-replacement) ).
  2. Carefully pry the glove box light out of the glove box housing.
  3. Twist the socket (A) to remove it from the glove box light (B). Glove Box Light: 1.4 W
  4. Remove the bulb (C) from the socket.
  5. Install the light in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 22: Console Box Light Replacement
  1. Remove the center console (see «CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#consoles__center-console-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Carefully pry out the console box light out of the center console.
  3. Twist the socket (A) to remove it from the console box light (B). Console Box Light: 1.4 W
  4. Remove the bulb (C) from the socket.
  5. Install the light in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Carefully pry off the lens (A) with a small screwdriver. Courtesy Light: 2 CP
  2. Remove the bulb (B) from the socket.
  3. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 24: Vanity Mirror Light Test
  1. Open the sunvisor.
  2. Remove the sunvisor (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__headliner-removalinstallation) ).
  3. Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the vanity mirror light. Vanity Mirror Light: 2W
  4. Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals. With the vanity mirror cover (B) opened, there should be continuity. With the vanity mirror cover closed, there should be no continuity.
  5. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the bulb (C) or the sunvisor.

Scheme 25: Trunk Light Test/Replacement
  1. Open the trunk lid.
  2. Carefully pry out the trunk light (A). Trunk Light: 5 W
  3. Disconnect the 2P connector (B) from the light.
  4. Check for continuity between the No. 1 (+) and No. 2 (-) terminals. There should be continuity. If there is no continuity, check the bulb (C). If the bulb is OK, replace the trunk light.
  5. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 26: Trunk Lid Latch Switch Test
  1. Open the trunk lid, and remove the trunk lid trim (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK LID»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-trunk-lid) ).
  2. Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the trunk lid latch (B).
  3. Check for continuity between the No. 3 and No. 1 terminals. There should be continuity with the trunk lid latch unlatched (trunk lid open). There should be no continuity with the trunk lid latch latched (trunk lid closed).
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the trunk lid latch switch.

Scheme 27: Driver's Door
  1. Remove the driver's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the door switch (B).
  3. Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals. There should be continuity with the door open. There should be no continuity with the door closed.
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the door lock actuator.

Scheme 28: Front Passenger's and Rear Door
  1. Remove the front passenger's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ) or rear door panel (see «FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors__front-door-weatherstrip-replacement) ).
  2. Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the door switch (B). The illustration shows the front passenger's door.
  3. Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals. There should be continuity with the door open. There should be no continuity with the door closed.
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the door lock actuator.
