- Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio system and navigation system (if equipped). Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the left front door sill trim and left kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
- Disconnect the 6P connector from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. (Scheme 1): Identifying Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box 6P Connector
- Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table. (Scheme 2): Terminals Continuity Chart
- If the continuity checks do not agree with the table, replace the steering lock/switch.
- Connect the negative cable to the battery.
- Do the steering column position memorization (see «STEERING COLUMN POSITION MEMORIZATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/manual-power-steering/#power-steering-system-electronic-power-steering-system__steering-column-position-memorization) ).
- Enter the anti-theft codes for audio system and navigation system (if equipped), and set the clock.
