Mirrors - Power Acura Integra III

Mirrors 7 illustrations ~779 words

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Power mirrors are controlled by dual control switch located on driver's door panel or instrument panel. The left/right switch directs current to desired mirror. The up/down and left/right switch directs current to one of 2 motors located in the mirror/motor assembly. Mirror and motors are serviced as an assembly.

POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST

Remove power mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified switch terminals. (Scheme 1), (Scheme 2) or (Scheme 3). See POWER MIRROR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. If switch does not test as specified, replace faulty power mirror switch.

POWER MIRROR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST

Hatchback

Remove mirror panel and disconnect power mirror motor 8-pin connector. (Scheme 2) Using jumper wires, check motor operation by applying power and ground as specified. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST table. If motor does not function as specified, replace faulty motor assembly.

Sedan

Remove door panel and mirror panel. See DOOR PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect power mirror motor 3-pin connector. (Scheme 3) Using jumper wires, check motor operation by applying power and ground as specified. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST table. If motor does not function as specified, replace faulty motor assembly.

POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST

FUNCTIONAL TEST

Note. Perform the following procedure prior to performing the functional tests listed.

Remove driver's door panel. See DOOR PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Disconnect wiring connectors from door panel. Check for blown fuse No. 13 (7.5-amp), located in underdash fuse/relay box. Replace fuse as required. If fuse is okay, go to appropriate power mirror test.

One Or Both Mirrors Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage at power mirror switch connector terminal "I" (Black/Yellow wire). (Scheme 4) If battery voltage does not exist, check for blown fuse No. 13 (7.5-amp) or open in Black/Yellow wire. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between power mirror switch connector terminal "J" (Black wire) and ground. If no continuity exists, repair open in Black wire.

Left Mirror Inoperative

  1. Connect a jumper wire between power mirror switch connector terminal "I" (Black/Yellow wire) and terminal "G" (Yellow/Red (1) wire). (Scheme 4) Connect a jumper wire between terminal "E" (Yellow/White wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. Left mirror should tilt down. If mirror does not tilt down, check for open in Yellow/White wire. If wire is okay, go to next step.
  2. Move jumper wire from terminal "E" (Yellow/White wire) to terminal "D" (Yellow/Black (1) wire). Left mirror should swing left. If mirror does not swing left, check for open in Yellow/Black (1) wire. If wire is okay, check left mirror motor. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/mirrors/#mirrors-power) under COMPONENT TESTS. If mirror does not tilt down and does not swing left, check for open in Yellow/Red (1) wire. If mirror operates properly, check power mirror switch. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/mirrors/#mirrors-power__power-mirror-switch-test) under COMPONENT TESTS.

Right Mirror Inoperative

  1. Connect a jumper wire between power mirror switch connector terminal "I" (Black/Yellow wire) and terminal "F" (Blue/White wire). (Scheme 4) Connect a jumper wire between terminal "E" (Yellow/White wire) and ground. Right mirror should tilt down. If mirror does not tilt down, check for open in Yellow/White wire. If wire is okay, go to next step.
  2. Move jumper wire from terminal "E" (Yellow/White wire) to terminal "C" (Blue/Black wire). Right mirror should swing left. If mirror does not swing left, check for open in Blue/Black wire. If wire is okay, check right mirror motor. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/mirrors/#mirrors-power) under COMPONENT TESTS. If mirror does not tilt down and does not swing left, check for open in Blue/White wire. If mirror operates properly, check power mirror switch. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/mirrors/#mirrors-power__power-mirror-switch-test) under COMPONENT TESTS.

Removal & Installation

Remove trim plate and inner handle mounting screws. Release clips holding door panel in place using a trim pad remover or other flat-blade tool. (Scheme 5) Remove door panel by pulling gently upward. Disconnect wiring connectors and inner handle cable. Remove inner handle and armrest. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Scheme 5: Removal & Installation

Carefully remove mirror mount cover. (Scheme 6) Remove door panel. See DOOR PANEL. Disconnect power mirror motor connector. While holding mirror assembly in one hand, remove mounting nuts or screws using other hand. To install, reverse removal procedure.
