A driver side six-way power seat is available on this vehicle. The power seat system allows the driver to electrically adjust the seating position using the power seat switch (1) located on the outboard seat cushion side shield. This graphic also shows the available lumbar option if equipped (2).
The six-way power seat can be adjusted forward, rearward, front up and front down. This power seat system may also be equipped with heated seats.

The power seat adjuster assembly is made up of an upper and a lower power seat adjuster. The upper power seat adjuster contains one reversible motor (1) that is connected to a gearbox that tilts the front of the seat cushion up and down. The lower power seat adjusted contains two reversible motors connected to gearboxes. One motor (2) tilts the rear of the seat up and down and the other motor (3) moves the seat assembly forward and rearward. When the rear and front tilt motors are activated together, the height of the driver seat raises and lowers. Each motor contains a self-resetting circuit breaker to protect it from overload. Consecutive or frequent resetting of the circuit breakers may damage the motors.
The power seat motors cannot be adjusted or repaired and if inoperative or damaged, the entire power seat adjuster assembly must be replaced.
Scheme 9
There are two possible lumbar systems available for this vehicle.
- HEATED AND VENTED SEAT SYSTEM (HVS equipped) LUMBAR SYSTEM (1)
- HEATED ONLY OR NON HEATED OR NON VENTED SEAT (non-HVS) LUMBAR SYSTEM (2).
OPERATION
The power seat system receives battery current through a fuse in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and remains operational, regardless of ignition position.
When a power seat switch is actuated, a battery feed and a ground path are applied through the power seat switch contacts to the appropriate motor or motors. The motor and drive unit operate to move the seat in the selected direction until the switch is released, or until the travel limit of the gearbox and linkage is reached. When the switch is moved in the opposite direction, the battery feed and ground path to the motor is reversed through the switch contacts. This causes the motor to run in the opposite direction.
The power seat motors, gearboxes and linkage cannot be adjusted or repaired and if inoperative or damaged, the entire power seat adjuster and seat cushion pan, or the power reclining seat back must be replaced as an assembly.
When a power seat switch is actuated, a battery feed and a ground path are applied through the switch contacts to the power seat track adjuster motor. The selected adjuster motor operates to move the seat through its drive unit in the selected direction until the switch is released, or until the travel limit of the adjuster is reached. When the switch is moved in the opposite direction, the battery feed and ground path to the motor are reversed through the switch contacts. This causes the adjuster motor to run in the opposite direction.
On vehicles equipped with the memory seat system, the driver memory seat switch provides a resistive signal/input to the Memory Seat Module (MSM). The MSM is responsible for the 12 volt battery feed and ground path to the power seat adjuster motors.
No power seat switch should be held applied in any direction after the adjuster has reached its travel limit. The power seat adjuster motors each contain a self-resetting circuit breaker to protect them from overload. However, consecutive or frequent resetting of the circuit breaker may result in motor damage.
The individual switches in the power seat switch cannot be adjusted or repaired. If a switch is damaged or inoperative, the entire power seat switch must be replaced.
Scheme 10
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the power seat switch from the power seat. Refer to «SWITCH, SEAT, REMOVAL»(ref-646268-S41164195002014072800000) .
- Use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of the power seat switch. If not OK, replace the faulty power seat switch. If switch tests OK, refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-646268-S40251455262014072800000) .

POWER SEAT SWITCH CONTINUITY
When a power lumbar support switch is actuated, a battery feed and a ground path are applied through the switch contacts to the power lumbar pneumatic pump. The pneumatic pump operates the lumbar support bladder in the selected direction until the switch is released, or until the fill limit of the bladder is reached. When the switch is moved in the opposite direction, the battery feed and ground path to the motor are reversed through the switch contacts. This causes the pneumatic pump motor to run in the opposite direction.
The power lumbar support switch should not be held applied in any direction after the bladder has reached its travel limit. The power lumbar support pneumatic motor contains a self-resetting circuit breaker to protect from overload. However, consecutive or frequent resetting of the circuit breaker may result in motor damage.
The power lumbar switch cannot be adjusted or repaired and must be replaced if damaged or inoperative.
