DIAGNOSTIC TEST

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE: Before proceeding with the diagnostic procedure, verify that the connections are properly made, seated and verify proper pin terminal tension. A loose connection at any of the SCCM connectors may cause the DTC to set. Turn the ignition on. Press each Remote Radio Switch twice. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 2 No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
2. LEFT OR RIGHT REMOTE RADIO SWITCH NOTE: Check for a stuck Remote Radio Switch. Repair as necessary. With the scan tool, view the switch status. Status can be viewed in the SCCM data display. NOTE: With the switches not pressed, the value for the remote switches should read "Not Set". Left Remote Radio Switch SWS Seek Up SWS Preset SWS Seek Down Right Remote Radio Switch SWS Volume Up SWS Audio Mode SWS Volume Down Does the scan tool display the correct status of the switches in the data display? Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. NOTE: Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Remote Radio Switch harness connectors and the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) harness connector. Repair any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals. If harness is OK, proceed with test. Replace the Remote Radio Switch that does not display the correct value in the data display. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press each switch on the Left Steering Wheel Switch assembly twice.
3. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. WARNING: Do not place an intact non-deployed airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag propels into the air if accidentally deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. NOTE: Check for a stuck Left Steering Wheel Control Switch. NOTE: Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Left Steering Wheel Control Switch harness connector and the Right Steering Wheel Control Switch (Speed Control Switch) harness connector. Repair any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals. If harness is OK, proceed with test. Replace the Left Steering Wheel Control Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «SWITCH, EVIC CONTROL, REMOVAL»(ref-646247-S29629373752014072800000) . Once switch has been replaced, press it twice to initialize it. If problem persists, replace the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) in accordance with the Service Information. 2. LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Steering Control Module C1 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (A929) Fused B(+) circuit. Is battery voltage present? Yes Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, STEERING COLUMN, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S30935073502014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the (A929) Fused B(+) circuit for an open, short to ground or high resistance. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

3. (A929) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT OPEN OR SHORTED TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Steering Control Module C1 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (A929) Fused B(+) circuit. Is battery voltage present? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the (A929) Fused B(+) circuit for an open, short to ground or high resistance. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
4. (Z911) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE Turn the ignition off. Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z911) Ground circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, STEERING COLUMN, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S30935073502014072800000) . 2. With the scan tool, select view DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Refer to «DTC INDEX»(ref-646339) and perform the U0002-00-CAN C BUS OFF PERFORMANCE diagnostic procedure. No Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-646292-S21791958192014072800000) and perform the Stored Lost Communication DTCs diagnostic procedure.

VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE

Note. Make sure the IOD fuse is installed and the battery is fully charged before proceeding.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs. Is the DTC active at this time? Yes Perform the U0100-87-Lost Communication with ECM/PCM diagnostic procedure. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-646300-S39827806862014072800000) . No Perform the Stored Lost Communication DTCs diagnostic procedure. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-646292-S21791958192014072800000) .

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. WARNING: Do not place an intact non-deployed airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag propels into the air if accidentally deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. NOTE: Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) harness connector and the SCCM harness connector. Repair any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals. If harness is OK, view repair. Replace the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «SWITCH, SPEED CONTROL, REMOVAL»(ref-646241-S03698460562014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

Note. Diagnose any CAN Bus DTCs that may be set in other modules before proceeding with this diagnostic procedure.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read active DTCs. Dose the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes If no other CAN Bus DTCs are set in other modules and the SCCM is the only one reporting this DTC, replace the SCCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, STEERING COLUMN, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S30935073502014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
